AW 14500 IN A NITECORE EA1 ?

Hello light junkies(like myself)

Anyone using this setup?
Is the light brighter than using eneloops?
Is the UI affected?
Any other information or problems using this battery?

Thanks

I use a Trustfire flames 14500 and it is brighter.
The UI is not affected, the only thing affected is the battery voltage indicator, nitecore tells that in the manual.

Note:
When EA1 is driven by primary LiFePO4 battery or rechargeable L i-ion battery, it can
result in one of the below situations:

  1. EA1 brightness level is greatly increased
  2. EA1 circuit can not accurately detect the battery voltage

The only downside is the runtime.

thx 404

The low voltage indicator is calibrated for lithium primaries and will regard a fully charged Li-ion as 3v.

I have tried 14500 in it before and it is definitely brighter than using Eneloops. The UI is not affected but there is not much difference between high and turbo. The Trustfire Flames 14500 fits fine but Keeppower 14500 is too long to fit. Overall, my preference is to use Eneloops because of the longer runtimes.

Is the tf flames the best 14500 out there now? Are runtimes cut in half?

The Sanyo UR14500 unprotected (840mAh) would be better choice than the Trustfire Flames (900mAh). Trustfire always over-rate their battery capacity and my guess is that its real capacity is closer to 700mAh.

I have not done a runtime test comparing the TF and Eneloops but I think the runtimes would be less than half considering that it is brighter using the 14500 and Eneloops also have a higher capacity (2000mAh). If somebody has done a similar comparison test before, please feel free to let us know the results
