Handy little light

Doesn't have replaceable batteries as it is designed to be charged from a car's cigarette lighter/power socket. Cute little thing that I've bought quite a few of as I keep leaving them in other people's cars. DX say it'll run for two hours when fully charged, they are being pessimistic, I left it lit in the car (and not in the power socket) for 6 hours. Battery life under such a regime is debatable but I've not had any trouble from any of them and I've had quite a few.

The beam is typical Nichia - think Fenix E01 - I'm almost certain that it is a Nichia half-watt LED behind that optic.

Only actually useful if you have a car but I have found dozens of uses for these. Not hugely bright, most of them (there are dozens of varieties of them) claim 28 lumens, but bright enough for lots of things in and around a car when it's dark. IMO, well worth $8.

Beamshots

About 4" from white trunking. Colour here is not accurate, it has the sunny yellow centre to the beam with the typical Nichia purplish/greenish spill.

About 6" from white dado trunking.

These colours are closer but the beam is greener than that and the hotspot yellower.

I'll give it 4 stars.

Ah, interesting! That could be a real lifesaver for mechanical problems at night, and you could leave it plugged in all the time so it won't go dead in storage.

My only concern would be that continual charging might kill off the tiny rechargeable battery inside. It is, of course, possible that they spent the extra 3 cents to put a circuit in to stop it overcharging. Just not probable. Dan's Data has a review of one such device.

Nice little light...i have heard of these but not interested in getting one. I keep a light in the car and i also edc two lights on me. Seems to be a great little light. Hey Don have you done a runtime test, i would like to know how long the light lasts.

Not as such, but I've left it on in the car for 6 hours and it was still shining when I went back out to the car.

Just noticed that my local overpriced electronics emporium has started stocking these at a minimal, for them, markup of only 100% more than I can get it delivered from HK. They usually mark up 500-1000%.

Reminds me of an imaginary book I heard about on The Late Late Show: Learn How to Lose Money and Gain Weight

(I'm just kidding saypat. It's a joke!) :)

The Deal extreme light (and the other one listed) is a knock off of the Spotlight that is sold by JTSpotlight. The Spotlight, and the Coast version, where the first LED versions of this 12v rechargeable flashlight, originally sold as an option in a VW toureg. The Spotlight is better quality, brightness, battery life and feel than the cheaper versions, as well as a lifetime warranty against defects. Although not recommended, I have left one in a car charging 24/7 for a year and it still worked. Intermittent use/charging is recommended for longer life.

If someone wants to do a comparison send me a message, I can provide a JTSpotlight.
