should be sleeping, awake with poorly kid

Isn’t it always the way….

Get into bed, head touches pillow, just a nano-second of “ah thats good”….and then……

Tears from the kids bedroom!

Full of snot, temperature, sore throat and feels sick.

No sleep tonight then….:(

Oh dear bud, I had that last weekend, with the whole house. I know your issue, not in work tomorrow are you? We’ve found paracetamol suspension and cough elixir are the magic formulas for poorly kiddies, its all the doctor prescribes so we keep some in.

I also tend to take kiddie downstairs, snuggle up on the sofa under a rook of blankets, then at least one of us gets some sleep, in the morning we swap over (aside last weekend where I was Florence nightingale…) You need some sleep at some point, or else you colapse like I did in the week.

Sorry to hear that, I had the same last week too. My boy was up every 5 mins with sore throat and headache.

Must be something going around.

I hope yours gets better soon and you get some kip Big Smile

We’re snuggled up on sofa, wood burner ticking-over, little one is dosed with ibuprofen and paracetamol and a squirt of saline to clear her nose, but no sign of sleep yet

Ive got Hobgoblin and blf Smile

No work in the morning thankfully!

Up until this point it sounds positively idyllic. 8) I wish I was sitting in front of a wood burner. But sorry about the sickness, that’s no fun at all. Hope everyone starts feeling better soon.

I’ve never tried Vicks vaporub, does anyone know what it actually does to your body?

Vicks is good stuff, shall restock in the morning…

Does anyone remember the vicks vaporizer? Powered by a tea-light and it filled the room with a heady vicks fug. As a kid I loved the flickering candle, the shadows and the smell:)

Cheers for all your support, much appreciated.

Its a mix of menthol and eucalyptus oils I think, so its good at clearing snotty noses

Used to have a gizmo like a cookie jar with an element inside that made steam when I was small. Sorry to hear about the tike, Woody. Nowadays when I get the green crud I use a salt water sinus rinse. Flushes me out and shrinks my head a bit too. Incredibly gross to do but completely eliminates the antihistamines.

Three Tanna leaves to give him life, nine to give him movement. But what if he eats the whole bag?

The burner has a wonderful hypnotic effect on furry animals and humans. Both cats are stretched out on the rug and sicknote is snoring on the sofa next to me. My eyelids are feeling very heavy…its now 5am

Goodnight all, thank you

Woody, one thing we do use is an oil burner like this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B003O6XIFG/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1361010263&s...

With olbas oil and water, great for clearing snotty airways when kids are trying to sleep. It’s much like the vicks vaporizer you mentioned above.

Hope the little one feels better soon. Been there, it’s got to be done, but oh boy do we suffer the next day. My girls are normally in a much better condition than me and the wife after a night of ills. Sometimes the kids can fully recover whist Mum and Dad still feel crap from stress/lack of sleep!

Take care
