BLF A8 light output very low.

Hey guys, I got my BLF edition A8 a few weeks ago and tested it. It had a problem of having very low light output, I unscrewed the top where the reflector is and adjusted the spacer between the led and reflector then screwed the top back on. This seemed to fix the light output and I was satisfied with the light.

Fast forward to yesterday and I pull out the A8 to use, but it turns on dim. I think I maybe I left it on low mode and switch through the modes, that didn't help; the A8 was on high mode and the output was a third of what it should be. I took out the battery and left it out overnight.

Today I checked on the A8 to see if it would work like normal. Same results as yesterday, tried changing battery and bypassing the switch by using a DMM. So it definitely has something to do with the driver or LED. I think it only draws 0.03a on high.

Here are some pictures of the light. On low and firefly mode you can look directly at the LED and make out the little lines in the die very easily.

Sorry I don't have a tool to open that plastic thing.

Sounds like a driver issue, but is there chance that the +/- leads are shorting out on the reflector?

You should be able to unscrew the white disc with needle-nose pliers or tweezers.

Managed to get the plastic off, but the driver looks fine to me. I think its soldered or glued in.

sorry to hear that.

All A8 were sold out, I wish i could send a new one to you.

Does volunteer have a spare driver?

I can paypal you the shipping cost.
