Hi from Australia

Just wanted to introduce myself and say, Hi.
My name is Bill and I live on the Central Coast (which is just above Sydney).
I thought it was about time I signed up and got involved in the many discussions about this addictive hobby.
I have been using the site for about 9 months now as the reviews, advice and general atmosphere between the members has been fantastic.
It’s strange, as I feel like I know some of the regulars yet never been a member myself.
I am still in the collecting stage at the moment as there are so many budget ( and not so budget) lights to choose from however in due course some basic modding should be on the cards.
Most of the local stores in Australia seem to sell mainly the bigger more expensive brands e.g. Fenix, Sunwayman, Jetbeam, Thrunite, Eagletac, Klarus etc. which is great however they are pretty expensive. Even local Ebay sellers offer the Chinese brands at greatly increased prices so most of my stuff so far comes from overseas. Prices are great, however the slow boat wait is agonizing as it usually take 14 – 25 days to be delivered.

Anyway, enough waffle, great now to be a part of a great forum.

Here’s something to start the ball rolling that seems has very little information on the net and also limited options to purchase from manufacturers:-

Tripod adapter for flashlight. One that is adjustable and can fit multiple size flashlights. I am in the process of trying to make something up. What does everyone use?

G’Day fellow Aussie!
I’m from Sydney. You’ve found a really friendly and helpful forum here.

What torches do you own?

Please enjoy your time here, billoz!

Dont knock me for these but I started with Led Lenser P7 and P17 and while I have learnt here that they are not regulated ( and the beneficial reasons) I found them to give me the wow factor and how well they are built. Problem is, I then wanted MORE POWER !!!
So now I have:-
Sipik 68, Sipik 98, Ultrafire (Sipik 68 clone), TANK TK-737, Uniquefire F-16B, Uniquefire UF-F10 (tk35 Clone), Ultrafire TR-3t6, Trustfire X9, Skyray STL-V2 and HD2010. I also have another 6 on order that I wont have for a while.

Haha, I started with Led Lenser also. Use 2 P5R’s for work a land have a P3 AFSP on my keyring!

My first proper torch was a black Sky Ray King, such an awesome torch!
I also now own a ZL SC52, a TF Z8 and a Sipik 68. I’m going to buy either a TM26 or TK75 soon as my first serious torch.

Welcome to the forum. Would a Velcro strap through a block with a 1/4”x20(or whatever tripod thread is) insert to the trick for holding a variety of shapes?

Howdy.

The Black Skyray King is one I have just ordered. Can’t wait !!

Good idea and Yes, I have thought of Velcro or what we call hockey straps but I am trying to make something a little more solid.
I hopefully will be able to put something together on the weekend and post a picture.

Did you order from RIC from CNQG? I got my black one from him.

Welcome to billoz. I usually say some casual warning about how your walet will get drained by being on here. It looks like you are already well into that process

No, I havent tried CNQG yet, I decided to try Fast Tech for my last order but I have used Lightmalls, TMART and Bang Goods.:). Only problem I have had so far was Tmart which was broken Orings and a couple of dead batteries.

Yes, the wallet draining is well underway. The bigger problem is trying to explain the fasination to the wife

Me too! And the mates, problem is I don’t really have an answer for them!! What IS our fascination with torches?!
