E-Cigs: To do or not to do, that is the question.

Hi all,

FastTech has a plethora of cheap E-cig equipment (over 2500), and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to try some out.

I don’t smoke and I don’t plan to, but I would like to try out some on the no-nicotine flavors.

The tiramisu flavor looks tasty:

Maybe I could taste some of this:

As well as the vanilla flavor:

And taste some of this:

I wonder if these will ruin my health in any way. Can these Chinese e-liquids be trusted?

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

I’m a non smoker too, but I wonder if the e-cig craze will spawn a whole new 21st century addiction problem.

Good point. I’ve seen some friends go from e-cigs to real cigarettes. Such a shame. :~

I was kind of thinking about what other chemicals and “highs” could be had from an e-cig… but your point is quite valid too.

I haven’t thought of that, good food for thought.

You said you don’t smoke and you don’t plan to…be helpful to yourself and don’t ever bother to try. E-cigs are relatively new and there is still no short or long term study on its effects to the human body. Whatever it will be, personally I’m scared of inhaling some kind of chemical. You are a lot better off now without it, don’t you think?

(I’m an ex-smoker)

Somehow I’m weary the Chinese e-liquids and their chemical composition.

Superficial research combined with cheap Chinese chemicals, especially those designed to be inhaled might not be a healthy combination. hmm…

It might have a bad effect but might not be the same way as using tobacco cigarettes.

There has been short term and long term research on ecigs. There has been studies done since the 40s on inhaling vapors of the main ingredient of ejuice, pg. I can do some searching and find some to link here

That would be very nice of you, thanks.

If you want you can browse ecf until then, lots and lots of good info

Yup, will do.

Yep, saw that too.

Pg and vg (vegitable glycol, can’t remember what pg stands for) are the base ingredient for ejuice. The basics of the test from back in the 40s, inhaling pg vapor was found to clear lung infections along with other things. It’s been probably 2 years since I read the article so I don’t remember much more.
Those ingredients are also used for medicinal uses, such as a child’s nebulizer for asthma.
Now the flavors, there’s only been short term tests done, but I don’t believe there has been any negatives found
And the nicotine they say is no worse than caffeine

If you don’t smoke cigs please don’t start a nicotine addiction with e-cigs. They may or may not be safe. However, compared with cigs it’s a safe bet that they are “safer”. However, inhaling anything into your lungs, even not so clean air, is something to take seriously. Not to mention a nicotine addiction is expensive and well addictive, very addictive it doesn’t take long for most people to get completely hooked.

If you are a smoker, I would highly recommend trying them out. Any reduction in cigarette smoking as a result of e-cig smoking is a positive thing. If you are not a smoker, it is highly unlikely that you could become addicted to nicotine through one of these things- but why even try?

I don’t plan to inhale nicotine containing e-liquids, just some sweet flavors.

However, I do fear it could be a gateway to nicotine containing e-liquids as well as addiction.

I guess I just don’t see the point. But I struggled with nicotine addiction for decades and I have seen it destroy lives so it’s simply not cool to me to see anyone smoking or acting like they smoke. I think e-cigs should be used to quit smoking and I would hate to see them be used in a way that could even possibly lead the way to smoking cigs.

However, to each their own, I’m sure there are more dangerous things in life.

Sorry to hear that.

Thank you for your input, I think I’ll stay away from e-cigs because I’m convinced that they’re not worth it.

Thanks and I think you are making the correct decision.
