Hollow heat sink is filled with a press fit Aluminum rod
KD V2 7135 driver that now has 16 chips on it. That's 5720mA, roughly 5.7 amps. It has the original modes, H/M/L/Strobe/SOS
10 Amp Judco Pushbutton Switch
Copper Braid mods to both springs
Coated glass lens
Cosmetic mods are brushed finish
What batteries to use? Well, you could use three "C" NiMHs, but you would not maintain voltage enough to get 5 amps with the higher Vf led. Same with one 18650 with a dummy cell. I don't think it would maintain for very long, but with a good 18650, maybe for a little while.
I would suggest four of the 4/5 Sub C NiMHs from allbattery. Four of them will keep the voltage up for a while and they are rated at 3C, so they are probably the best bet, but what you do with batteries is up to you.

I don't usually make lights for people. I know it's all in my mind, but if I mod one myself and I fail, it's no big deal, but if I do one for someone and I fail, it's a real big deal, because not only do I loose the one I messed up, but I have to start all over again and make another, to fulfill the order. Too much pressure on this old fart and that usually makes me mess the light up.
If I do make more, it will be a while as these last builds are probably it for me, due to the heat. I have one or two more lights to go and then I need to shut down till cooler weather comes back again.
Got it! wow crap makes T6 looks like dull LEDs now. The throw is amazing on par with my stock T40CS. Lights up 50-100 yards like a piece of cake. Only problem would be batteries, do I have to buy them stacked like this? Also 2 unprotected 18650s work prefect with paper spacer inside (to stop fumbling inside).
You could just get 4 of the NiMHs and not have them soldered together.
2 18650? Uhhh no. The driver is not rated for that high a voltage and neither is the led. Something will go poof if you use two 18650 in series. Use one 18650 and a dummy cell, that's ok.
