Hello from North Carolina.

I am a new member with a fondness for flashlights. But until I found you guys my lights were of the Maglite DD and AA variety. Some years back I bought a Streamlight Twin Task 2xC123 light for about $34 dollars. It was and still is a nice light but if you really wanted a very nice light you had to pay more. After reading your posts, reviews, and discussions I saw that now one can have a lot of fun with a bigger and more capable array of led lighting for less. I just received my first order: http://www.lightmalls.com/ultrafire-502b-cree-xm-l-u2-5-modes-led-flashlight-with-a-ultrafire-2400mah-18650-battery-and-a-charger-holster

The Ultrafire 502B is charged and I am anxiously waiting for the night. I wanted something that would reach 200 feet from my back porch to the edge of the forest. Hope this will do it.

Hello and thanks for the work that goes into this forum.

Hi Adled! Welcome to BLF!

Hey welcome to the forum. Sounds like with your location you could use a light with more throw. A good entry level thrower is a Small Sun ZY-T08, ZY-T13 or an HD2010, those range from $20-$30 respectively.

Thanks, Py Tech, I’ll check those out.

Welcome to the family, Adled! You will love the new light compared to the mags. My first high performance light was a UF-501a with an XR-E. I thought it was insane until I got my first XM-L light. First thing you need to do is get a better battery than that hazard that came with your 502. Second would be a better charger.

I was considering the Nitecore Intellicharger i4 V2. Will it also charge the AA NiMHs that I use in my Nikon SB-800? And I assume you mean I should buy some protected cells for my new light, maybe some Sanyo or Panasonics?

Hey .

Welcome to the BLF .

Sorry about your wallet .

Welcome to BLF! For a 200ft reach, some good throwers were mentioned earlier. A real quality budget thrower with that much reach is the Convoy C8 (Fasttech and there’s a new seller on here for Convoy, forget his name). Right around $15 gets one of the highest quality C8s available. I have two of them at the moment, I had four.
Double your money and step up to the XinTD v4 from Intl-Outdoor. It is touted as the best quality C8s available (I do not have one of these).

I am absolutely dazzled with this new UltraFire WF-502B. Looks like it is more of a flood than a thrower. But wow does it really light up my back yard compared to my incandescents. Thanks for all of the thrower suggestions.

Welcome fellow North Carolinian. You keep hanging around here and your wallet will keep getting lighter and lighter until there’s nothing left but, you’ll never be in the dark again. We all love flashlights here or as some say torches, you’ll feel right at home here.

Most P60 drop-in lights are flooders. The reflector is relatively shallow. They make real nice pocket lights for dog walking and general yard use. I was previously not a fan of them (Solarforce L2 series, WF-501b, etc.). Lately I’m finding myself building some drop-ins and ordering hosts

We're glad that you joined, Adled!

You’ll fit right in and welcome tons of fun lots to learn .
