Guess I was wrong... Greetings from Finland

Hi. I'm 30 years old insurance official from Finland. I have a wife and a dog. We have long and dark winter (and fall, and spring) here so adequate illumination is needed. I'm not much of an outdoors person, but I bike to work weather permitting and I have just started hunting, which was the single biggest reason for me to get in to flashlight hobby.

I signed to this forum 5 weeks ago, but haven't made a introduction. I will do it now. Hello. I'm a CPF outcast as many others here seem to be. I first signed to that place. Did some quoestions. Didn't get answers or if I did, they weren't very nice to noobs. So I looked further and found this place. And I'm glad I did. This place is amazing.

In the last 5 weeks I've made... let's see... 110 posts this included. Mainly because I hang here all my workdays (automotive insurance industry is quiet in the summer, high season is the winter) and most of my free time. And I have a lot of questions to ask. Today I was strolling though my own old posts for some reason. I found that one day after I signed here, I wrote in "What you got today"- thread:

That last sentence might have been a bit of an understatement on my behalf. Seems like I was ready to take the DIY route after all. I just didn't know that then. After that post 5 weeks ago I have soldered together like half a dozen dropins. I also XML'lified an S-mini and stuck a 2,8 amp driver to it. I have bought a Maglite for the sole purpose of turning in into portable sun. I have flashed some chips without using the clip that is supposed to be needed to do so. I have written (no, let's not take undue credit) edited code that I've flashed to chips to alter the modes to my own liking. And all this with very limited or non-existing experience of doing all that stuff. I have never written a line of code in my life. I was into RC cars at some point, so soldering was not new to me but my skills are limited. I had very small knowledge of how electricity works as a whole. And still all those formulas are complete nonsense to me.

But even without much skills, with a ton of help from You guys I've been able to do that stuff and put together some pretty impressive illuminating gear. The kind that is not available to buy ready anywhere.

Thank you BLF. This place is the best.

I'm glad you're here too.

Great presentation! Welcome (again) to BLF!

Great to get to know a little about you!! Enjoy your time here. I hope the BLF members can help...

Thanks for the belated introduction HID45! We're really glad to have you here.
