TrustFire R5-A3 Cree

Emittor Type: Cree XP-G-R5

3 modes High/Low/Strobe

Swith Type: Reverse Click Switch

SMO Aluminum reflector

Coated Glass Lens, whit Stainless steal bazel and GITD

Batterys : 1xAA or 14500 battery, voltage 0.8~4.2V

Body: Aluminum HAII

Dimensions: (9.7 cm x 2.1 cm x 2.1 cm)

The flashlight have aluminium body made quite strong, length is 9,7 cm and a diameter is 2,1cm. Fluorescent clikie switch and O ring under the glass lenss, clip is atached by tail cap and one litle red ring to the boy.

There is also one O ring on the tail cap, so flashlight is waterproof (beter say splash proof). It fits in ahnd nice and i rly like the size of it.

Light is rly bright for this small flashlight, i like low and HI mode but would like it whitout anoying strobe (why on every flashlight there is strobe?).

Batery wise this litle bugre will drain yours 14500 on HI in 20-30 min i didnt test it on low, and it gets hot but not so hot you cant hold it in hand.

I did measure tailcap Amps and it seams thet my R5-A3 on black flame trustfires 14500 charged at 4.19v is giving 1.09A at tailcap, i exspected atleast 1.3A :(

Overal i like this flashlight, only things thet i hate is strobe, tailcap switch which should be more esy to press and a lite more out coz is hard to turn it on whit one hand and thet my driver is not giving 1.3A to XP-G.

Here are pictures

Does the pill come out from the head or tail?

It comes off from the head, unscrev bazel and take reflector out and you can esy reach led pill

Thanks for the nice pics! Is there any chance to get a closeup of the driver to see the components, please?

When and where did you buy it?

I buy it from DX ill post more pictures of driver later there is some label on it TR-0107A1 mybe thet helps

Here is a link to the driver mod to eliminate the strobe mode

Must be fate. I just received my R5-A3 today from Kaidomain (along with a lot of other assorted parts). My numbers are a bit different from yours, along with construction (my emitter is held inplace by screws for one).

Here are my numbers, both tailcap amp readings and I.S. lumen readings:

Crappy Alkalines

High - 2.2a 95L

Low - 300ma 10.3L

NiZn

High - 2.3a 154.1L

Low - 280ma 17.4L

Trustfire 14500

High - 1.77a 300.4L

Low - 170ma 35.6L

AW IMR 14500

High - 2a 332L

Low - 190ma 38.7L

Note that the high lumen ratings for both li-ions were read at @5sec mark. Both dropped roughly 30L after 20sec or so. So far, I'm quite happy with this little guy.

I broke down and bought this one myself from KD along with some warm emitters , time to hone my modding skills and make some good lights great.

Match so you emitter was screwed down?

How about the driver, is it the two piece one like mine that can be modified?

I am going to order another one if it's the same before they go away for good.

Yes to both questions. Kaidomain is where I got mine, and it also seems to be the cheapest atm...

So at the current Match is pulling on his, we can figure about 20-25 minutes runtime on high with 14500 Surprised, although with the heat, I imagine you wouldn't want to run it more than about 5 minutes on high at a time.

Here is picture of flatened and polished head ring and i also removed paint and polished thet purple ring thet goes betwen body and tail cap switch i think ti looks muche beter now.

Stock version Modifiyed version

I there any way to mod this version (red PCB) to remove the strobe?

Thanks!
