More new lights at manafont - Including XM-L Yezl Z1X clone for $22.94

Woohoo! More new lights. Of course, this immediately caught my eye:

Also another C8 XM-L variation with smoothe reflector:

Several other lights as well.

Also, a new 3-mode P60 XM-L drop-in with no flashies:

Mmmm…That C8 variant caught my eye. A lotta good looking light at a great price! After getting my first light with that kind of reflector I can’t stand the thought of the tiny reflectors in ones like the first one you linked to. They just look so anemic even though I know they aren’t. Heck, I love my little UF-F23 and it’s hard to get a smaller reflector than that. I think I may become a TOTAL flashlight geek when I get my holster for my F15 (if I don’t make my own before then to match my gun holster). Nothing says flashlight geek more than an open carry C8 sized light. :stuck_out_tongue:

The stainless steel UF RL-118 looks very nice, too.

I don't have any experience with Osram LEDs though. Wonder how they compare to the members of the Cree-family?

My Black Cat has an OSRAM in it; very bright with a focused hotspot.

OSRAM's are what Audi uses in those fancy running lights they are famous for on their cars.

At $20, that 1200F is a pretty good T6 value, no? I mean, it's an XM-L Palight . . . which is not a bad thing, really. My R5 Palight is fairly good medium thrower except for some initial flickering on high.

This WF-C2 looks like the the UF-1200F only with a stainless bezel. If it just had a T6 in it instead of a Q5 I'd spring the extra $5 for it.

I'm still waiting for them to come out with an XM-L light with one of those super deep 801/802 style reflectors. A 2.8a driver with one of those reflectors is bound to be an incredible thrower.

Unclear how many modes the 1200F has. May be a single mode. If I knew it was driven pretty well I may jump on that. Big head XM-L light with smooth reflector for $20 is hard to beat.

Actually you are spot on, Foy. I didn’t think of that but with the cost of a decent T6 drop-in around $17 that’s a nice host for only $3. Hmmm…must bookmark that light for next month!

Manafont needs a "wish list" feature like DX has. Just sayin'...

C8 style lights are really starting to crank my Evinrude. Just a lot more light/throw.

Blech! Choosing Osram emitters over Cree is like choosing a VIA CPU over an Intel CPU. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have the trustfire X8 and its got a deep reflector and has a smaller spot than the p60 dropins.

Mmmm...TrustFire X8...

Thanks for the hint, trooplewis! I have no Osram light, no stainless steel light, and the RL-118 is much cheaper than an Audi. Now, let's see how my SWMBO can argue against that...

(laughing)

"Is that an Osram you have there? Oh, well, let me introduce you to these people . . . they are so delightful and I'm sure you'll be much more comfortable. It's just through the back door . . . good boy . . . you'll find it . . . yes, yes, keep going . . . "

One thing about Osram; "Golden Dragon" is a way cooler name than "XP-E."

What's the problem with Osrams?

the pill is screwed into that heatsink/reflector and that combo is screwed into the body i believe its adequate cooling. ive left it on a while and the head gets really hot but the body stays warm touchable. dont have a 980L to compare to but i do have the F15 and theyre just two different lights. they both throw well but the X8 with the smaller spot throws further.

I saw both these lights too and wish there was a cree xp-g in that stainless light..not that osram isn't good I just don't know anything about them..heck maybe i'll pop a new led in there..

Nothing, per say, they are just not as good IMO. Aren’t nearly as bright as a comparably spec’d CREE and nowhere near the selection. Always seemed to me to be the red-headed stepchild of LEDs. Nothing wrong with a Chevy either but it’s not a Cadillac. Why buy the Chevy when the Caddy can be had for the same price? Ever heard anyone say, “What’s that, the new XM-L? It’s ok, but check out this awesome OSRAM I picked up!”? Thought not.

If the body on the X8 just gets warm while the head gets really hot then there isn’t any adequate cooling going on there. The head on the F15 gets hot but the body is only off by 10 degrees the entire time it heats up. The 980L is the same way…the tailcap is only 10 degrees cooler than the head.

One thing the X8 has is a killer reflector, for sure! That and some classy good looks.
