Trustfire "Flame" 2400mAh - Test after ~3 years of rough use.

Topic tells pretty much, picture tells the rest:

Approx 3 years of use in Solarforce L2 as bike light. Used only at winter times, in all weathers including pretty chilly weathers.

Ride distance about 6 miles. Dropin draw afaik 1.5A with XP-G. Unprotected.

If I recall correctly, had about 2250mAh when new.

I can say this has been stored pretty carelessly, probably emptied itself to who knows how low at summer when not at use.

Basic UF charger has done the charging.

It has been dropped on it´s negative end.
Pic shows something but there is a deformation in the battery case.

You must be really lucky!

Just that picture alone scares me. That’s an unprotected cell too.

This was a two-pack. Both are still in use (not by me though).

Now days, you could buy 50 different Trustfire Flames from 50 different vendors and derive 50 completely different test results. Most Chinese 18650 cells are like a box of chocolates… you never know what you’re going to get.

more like a jar of jalapenos for me,what you eat today will burn your a$$ tomorrow

Would like to see a AA eneloop get abused for that length of time with the same results.

Check your collection. Pick the top three. Chances are the majority of that group are 18650 format lights. This is why.

I got a set of eneloops I had over 2 years in Peltor radio headphones at work.

Pot/switch was broken, so they were constantly ON.

They did not last 2 weeks, so one charge/week. Sometimes (often) they were completely drained by Peltor´s.

After 2 years I did a break-in with in-specification results.

After that, jammed them in a broken shaver and have not worried about longetivity of Eneloops since...

LOL

 How true! Its to bad, because theses were actually fairly descent cells a few years ago. Now they are mostly pure sh!t.

Why would you put batteries in a broken shaver? :stuck_out_tongue:

I second that. 3 or 4 years ago they were very decent cells, they all seemed to perform about the same. Not anymore, the last black with red flames I purchased over a 1 1/2 years ago, would not hold a voltage over 3v at a 3amp discharge right after fully charged. Terrible voltage sag, not worth having.
