New Build with a twist. 16340 Brass Ally. Winner announced. Post 129.

This light started out as a build for a member here but the longer I went through the parts bucket the more I realised I could not build a light to suit him/her so went of on a tangent and built a light with parts I had anyway.

All the parts in random order that went into the light.

As I keep saying I don't have much of an imagination so my wife and kids helped me with the styling.

The tailcap is brass. A black rubber boot was tried but I prefered the look of the orange. The switch retaining screw is aluminium. The knurling was an absolute pain in the butt to do. Brass is easy to machine but is still tough.

The battery tube is also brass. I was told to keep it simple. I do as I'm told when my darling wife speaks.

The reflector is a 19mm OP with an XPG-2 R5 1D tint led hiding behind what is supposed to be an AR lens. The led is fed a diet of electrons from a KD 7135 driver topping out at 1.8 amps. My 16340 Trustfire flame protection cuts in on high after about 5 seconds.

And finally some pose shots. Firstly with an Ultrafire T20 which runs a AA battery.

Front end shot. There is an o'ring between the bezel and lens and another on the head.

Theres nothing like a good rear end shot.

And one final picture.

The twist.

The twist is that this light is now in a giveaway. If you want a chance to win this light leave a comment. If I have offended any of you in the past now is your chance to seek revenge. All posts will automatically have a post added by me to win this light so you will have two chances. Only your first post counts as the official entry if you post more than once.

The title has now been changed to say this light is a giveaway. No more second chance posts will be allowed. All new entrants must have been a member no later than the 9.2.14 (2.9.14 in some parts of the world) and made at least 5 posts. Good luck all.

These rules will change when I add that this new build thread has something like win this light added to the title. There will be no more second chance posts added by me from then on. This will happen sometime in the future. If l manage to stuff up or miss you please let me know.

If you dont want to be in the draw to win this light feel free to add that to your post.

The same rules apply as in my original light thread giveaway.

Let the entertainment begin. Good luck to all and one.

You probably think I forgot, but I just chose to quite pestering you about it. :stuck_out_tongue:
Neat parts bin build, kudo’s to the fambly for their input.

Now, you know I’m a bit behind on the learning curve, but y’all have got me thinking of buying a small lathe…

Nice work, and kudos to the design committee.

Really pretty!

Thanks for the chance and nice work DNF! I was slightly offended by not winning your AA powered C8  just kidding! I am always impressed by your craftsmanship. Keep up the good work!

EDIT: No offense at all. It was an attempt at a joke. My beef should be with myself for not being able to rig random dot org so I could win it

It looks amazing as always. I need a 16340 light!

Everyone keeps saying how great your knurling is and you keep appologizing for it. I’m inclined to go along with the masses on this. If that light were in my pocket, you could never be certain what my hand was up to.

Steve, Nice build, I always love your poor attempts at knurling. Wish more people would do that poorly.

I'm in for the win. Not often that I want to enter a giveaway. Should say something about how unique your builds are.

Buy a larger lathe and I'll be over.

Thanks. Ill pass it on.
Gj’s second chance.

Your probably not bad yourself.
ryanferg second chance.

You have a better memory than I. I’ll have to look it up. I have the AA P60 still.
HBomb’s second chance.

I’ve tried another battery in it and so far its not cutting out.
unknown00101’s second chance.

Thanks buddy.
Mr bducks second chance.

I’m glad you have entered. This light needs a real man to carry it around. Its a heavy bugger. On a side note you were possible he or she.
I’d love to buy a bigger lathe but I have to get over something you know about first. Oh as well I have no money. :frowning:
OL second chance.

Nice Brass !

Very clever.
Suncoasters second chance.

Looks great!

This build is like my seafood combination chow-mein cooking.
Throw in the left over roast pork, left over roast chicken from the supermarket and the peeled prawns I just bought. And drop in the carrots, cabbage and chili for extra “throw”.

Oooh shiny! [But that 1D led needs to go..]

Very nice build. Thanks for sharing! :)

Amazing...absolutely beautiful!
