INTRODUCTION

The cardboard box is simple with the classic colors of Fenix, written on it diverse technical data. Inside the basics: flashlight, spare oring sufficient manual, warranty card. There are not holster, I never use with small flashlights, is not a problem.

It’s a perfect pocket flashlight, it adapts well to our hand, management is easy with bare hands or thin gloves ( latex or nitrile) with other gloves will be more difficult to use this interface.

The flashlight. Pieces.

The flashlight is compact and feels good in the hand. It has a huge head size (25.4 mm), this is good, have good heat dissipation and good shot.
The design is attractive and the quality of materials and finishes are high-end. Only 2 main parts. Perfect tailstand, with hole for lanyard or ring.

Electronic side switch, slightly embedded to protect against accidental starts. It has not happened to me, but in the pocket i would prefer unscrew a quarter turn to avoid accidentally “on”.
Great Heatsinks rails to dissipate the heat on the flashlight on high and burst mode.

LED / BEAM

I compare the beam with other compact cr123a flahslights, 3 are great EDC options

4 meters from the wall (about 13 feets). 4 Modes PD12

Head diameter 25,4 mm, fits ok the Nitecore accesories for 25,4mm

USER INTERFACE:

We have a flashlight with 3 general modes (10/80/200 lumens) + BURST (360 lumens)

- With the flashlight off: short press to switch to the last mode used (valid for 3 normal modes), press and hold to turn on Burst mode when the switch is released, turn off the flashlight.

- With Flashlight on: short press to change between 3 general modes (there are memory of last mode used). Press and hold about 0.5 sec to turn off the flashlight. Press and hold for burst mode (about 1-2 seconds for on burst), when released, returns to the previous mode.

RUNTIME AND OUTPUT:

Table. These are official data provided by fenix.
Fenix data, in my experience, is one of the most reliable brands on technical data provided on the instructions for use.

The balance between the different modes is perfect for me.

The runtime test is performed with Panasonic Industrial Battery (High Mode- 200 lumens), expiration date ENE/2022

I LIKE:

- The power that is able to draw from a primary cr123a.

- The Neutral tint.

- The range and beam.

- I really like this format and size the side switch

- Direct access to a “momentary turbo” from the position on or off. The balanced distribution of modes.

- Antirrol design.

- Good heat dissipation, low temperature rise in high mode.

- Quality finishes.

  • (Good grip, tailstand compatibility, head diameter, …)

I would change:

- RCR123A accept. (although somewhat penalizing efficiency).

- Some combination to lock the power from the switch.

- Improved access to the switch in total darkness or with gloves.

  • Access to Burst mode from on, it’s slow.

FINAL RATING:

- Materials quality and finishes: 9/10

- User Interface: 7/10

  • Max power and Modes: 10/10
    Final Score: 8.6 / 10

Thanks for the review. This is certainly not a quick look.

I like the size but cr123 is big drawback, one cr123 battery is about $5 owerhere!!!

Indeed much more than a quick look, it is a very nice review, thanks!

Thank you very much to all guys.
I said “Quick look”, because I have written little text, is basically a photographic mini review.

In my country the primary cr123a cost 6 euros (about 8$ ), but I buy in other countries (for internet) and pay approximately 1.5$-1,75$ for quality battery (Panasonic, Duracell, …). Of course i prefer to use 16340 batteries.

Nice review, thanks for sharing.
