UltraFire UF-H2B help

I’m looking at getting an UltraFire UF-H2B. There are two listed at Fasttech

Two modes, Adjustable Brightness > SOS

and

Three modes, Hi > Lo > SOS

Does the three mode not have ramping?
Which would you recommend?
Any durability issues?

Thanks.

The pic in the second one looks a bit short. Curious if FastTech has the 16340 version listed as the AA/14500 as well?

Second one has wrong description! It's not h2b , but the cr123 type..H1b (At least the picture shows that)

H2b looks reAlly nice for the money, but output is a little disappointing and PWM is horrible. Ask Boaz ;)

You might want to consider something a bit newer, something like the Niteye JA 10 $33 at wallbuys with code.other shops have it, but don't know their prices.

I have an Ultrafire UF-H2B. I got it from a group buy here a loooong time ago, actually bought 2, for $35 I believe. Anyway, it is a favorite of mine. Quite a flooder. I use it on my handlebars on my bike to flood everything right in front of me. It is well built! It takes a 14500 also but I don’t believe it’s brighter on it. And yes, PWM is bad. Nice magnet on tailcap also.

I’ve got some store credit at Fasttech and it’s the only light there that kind of interested me. I’ve got lots of Convoy 18650 lights so I’m looking for AA or 2xAA type lights.

How about this one:

SolarStorm SC01

What about the UF-H7 instead? Can take both AA and 14500 and it has a real reflector. Looks like the light that the H2 should have been. http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S023146

Any love for the Z2? This has been on my wish list for a very long time... Only $15:

Yeah, I’ve been watching the thread on that one. May have to get that if PWM is that bad on the H2b. I’ve not seen PWM so I’m not sure if it would bother me.

Got to be Fasttech.

I think it would be too throwy for me. I’m looking for a headlight for close-up.

PWM on Max isn`t noticeable. (by me)

but in lower modes, it`s pretty bad! to say it mildly.

Low output I’m OK with if there is corresponding long runtime, but PWM I’m not sure. Is there a mod for this?

Short of buying it how would I know if it would bother me? Is it comparable to fluorescent lighting 60Hz?

There probably is something to do about it.. but it`s one of the most difficult lights to work on.. everything is crammed in..

But I couldn`t find a way to work around it.. I just "upgraded" it to XPG2... not much improvement, except better tint. (and it wasn`t easy)

I have one of the UF headlamps in 18650 size. It works just fine but the PWM is one of the worst. So I only use it on high.
The tip is to unscrew the tailcap a little and then back. That will reset it to high. It is not very bright on high and will not get too hot even in summer (when BBQing:).
I feel it is over-priced though for $27. I got mine almost three years ago at the same price. Maybe time to get a newer light.

Not much love, I had one with faulty switch, and received another one. Build quality is ok, but with some faults: led is on tiny board with dubious thermal connection (mounted loosely onto anodised surface), but mainly the reflector screwes in with a minimum of threading, it has not happened yet, but I expect it to break off sometime. It also prevents modding with a thicker led-board (don't try modding it anyway, everything is press-fit and unservicable).

I like the looks of this UF-H7, but the price is steep.
