Romisen

DELETED

Shiningbeam is still a great company , but they haven't been keeping up with the latest and best technology these days . I bought a couple of the T602s a while back and they are very cool white ( blueish ) and the driver in them uses low PWM .

There are much better deals out there for the C8 form factor .

I have a couple of these , and they are a good light for the money .

I bought that light from Shiningbeam. I am very happy with the light, the fit and finish is very smooth and the light functions very well. I really like the three levels of light without the silly flashing or strobe setting. Shiningbeam is always great to deal with and ships quick from the US.

I bought mine in 2012. They had a two mode model and that is what I have, PWM is not really a factor at all.

A 1-A tint is too blue for my eyes, and I mostly throw those away.

3B or 3C xml2 is what I look for. On a C8 an OP reflector helps with the overall utility of the light. Most of the time I have a Convoy M2 or S2 in my pocket…or both.

Color perception is unique to each individual…

For me, too blue of a light is un-natural, it looks dimmer, and causes deterioration of my depth perception and dramatically excessive losses in my dark adaptation.

It just don’t feel right…

You talked me in to it Jack! Lol. I just ordered one.

I prefer cooler light because it increases contrast and makes it easier to find small things.

LED also vary quite a lot, my Romisen is pretty neutral tending to the warm side.

As always, “Your actual mileage may vary.”

You’re a man after my own heart. I also find that cool and bluish tints make reality appear 2 dimensional. Then again, I just recently didn’t do well on a color blindness test. Whatever the case, neutral and slightly warmer tints are like drinking a tall glass of a very refreshing beverage to me.

I used to think the cool tints were brighter, and they may be, but over time I realized that the neutral tints illuminated the targets better, and enabled me to see the environment more clearly, so the illumination was actually better.

Less light output but with better illumination…it sounds illogical, but the effect is there.

What I was perceiving as “brightness”, was actually glare. With the neutral tints there’s less glare, so the overall illumination is more comfortable, and I can actually see things more clearly and with better stereoscopic depth perception. There’s also an effect where the targets appear to be closer…it’s probably psychological.

This effect seems to hover around the tints closer to sunlight on the spectrum.

Maybe in another year, I’ll be saying the same things, but farther down the scale toward the warmer tints…

I did a walk thru the woods with a HD2010 that everyone was impressed with as to how bright it was ......and after seeing how horribly 2D the world was and how wonderful the woods blossemed with a high cri NW I swore " No more cool white tints ever again "....they just suck ....thats why they are giving them away in every light made ///and why you have to pay for a nw or warm white with some color rendering .

I'm not stoic on the idea ...If someone wants Cool whites or thinks they are better than god bless them .

But as for me ...it's over

Take a look at Convoy L4. You can customize the tint and the driver has no PWM even on low mode. For below $30 you can’t beat the value of this incredible light.
