My newest project. Care to guess what it is?

This was going to be my entry in the self made contest but it didn't exactly fit the rules. I'll post more as I get this project rolling.

16 leds, 4 drivers, 2*4 18650 holders, some plexiglass and ali heatsink, throw in some various glues, wire odds and ends, and mix well
Will be watching this daylight maker

Cheers David

An alternative Plasma Cutter?

Close!!

I forgot 4 button switches and two regular switches. Whatever it is it should be bright.

No active cooling?! D:
I guess a Portable light show.

hmmm, two regular switches, one for each battery bank for lockout ? to much power for one
and one button switch for each driver ? what are you, some kind of control freak :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers David

Work/shop light? That's my plan for my old emitters.

Yep control freak for sure.

Close and not a bad idea either.

Auto light bar? Not sure why the battery carriers though if it was.

Nope not an auto light bar.

I think we talked about this before. It's a lantern. Iirc, you were looking at the 4 sided aluminum tubes, and I was thinking about the hex tube. That's one of the reasons I'm trying to learn how to machine with my drill press. If I can do that and braze the tube onto a aluminum project box, I'll be most of the way towards my goal.

I'm guessing an sk68 isn't going to be involved in any way

Right on, you got it. That chunk of aluminum is just about 3 pounds so it’s not going to be light but it’s going to be very bright. With the four drivers it’s going to be very versatile as well. The round tube of stuff on top is diffuser tape. The hinges are for the battery boxes and the bottom of the light. It will open on the bottom and one of the boxes will swing down so you can load the batteries. Switches will go on top and part of that aluminum is getting cut off to mount sideways on top. It will act as outside heatsinking and a spot to mount the handle. The drivers are the same ones TomE uses in his super shocker. I worked out how to run four emitters with them it’s pretty nice with 2S2P as long as the drivers are potted good they run it perfectly. I’m actually making this for another member and we have been working together on the specifics. It’s not my first lantern but it’s by far the most complex one and it should really be something when it’s all done. I’m planning on making another one just like it for myself when this one is done.

Camping rotisserie for charcoal chickens?

edit: I really should learn to refresh before submitting a post, if Ive walked away with tabs open. Or never walk away with tabs open. Or dont leave tabs open. Or dont open lots of tabs.

That's going to be wonderfully obscene.

Hmmm now I’m thinking just how to fit one in. LOL

Make it rotate and you'll have a portable lighthouse to fool ships into crashing on the rocks.

I hear ya. I swear I’ll have two browsers running with six tabs each up as often as not.
