AL1800XWP dive light (BigBlue Dive Lights)

Does anyone know of a supplier for these.

The “retail” cost seems pretty high on these ($249). Especially since it looks to use the same function switch as a lot of other China lights. Curious if this is a commonly clones light.

Any input is welcome.

Single emitter

No way it can be 1800 lumens

oh wait…looks like 2 XM-L2’s with 2 XP-E’s off to the side for lower modes

Correction from reading the specs on the first link
2 x XML LED + 2 x XPE Red LED

Interesting for sure

Not a diver…do divers use red light at all?

It’ll mainly be used as a video light, hence no reflector as well. For a video light, you’ll want all flood. The red will be used to bring more of a natural light. That being said, I’m surprised I have yet to see a dive light (loved to be proven wrong here…) that comes with a warm white LED or neutral white LED as standard. All of the ones that I’ve bought (Brinyte DIV07 and DIV08, SolarStorm Dx4) have all got CW LEDs.

I’ve been on night dives with people who have some expensive rigs. I think the red light is also used to mark the subject, but the flash will actually illuminate it.

If you guys have seen a “clone” or “budget” version of this please let me know. I’ll look a little harder tonight and post whatever I find.

The only way I know how to find this sort of thing is on the supplier sites like Alibaba.com and Made-In-China.com, but that can be a little time consuming sifting through pages of lights.

Thanks again for the interest.

In terms of searching through the wade of lights, I highly recommend using the following filters:

- free shipping

- 1 piece only

  • set a price range that you’re willing to pay for. For example, if the original light is priced at US$200, set a price range of US$10 to US$100 and you may end up getting a bargain priced light with similar specs of the original light

Yeah… those aren’t quite a match.
I haven’t had any luck yet. I wonder how to figure out who the supplier is. I imagine since it uses a similar switch to the HOG Morph 1000… I get the impression that’s common in “China Lights”.

Reviving this in hopes that someone knows of a Chinese manufacturer that makes his light.
