-EXPIRED- XM-L2 U3-1A on non-DTP Copper @ LED-DNA for $3.85

The XM-L2 U3-1A on LED-DNA is about to get the same treatment as the XM-L U3-1A, by having them at $3.45!

Sucks for me because I just ordered 5 of the XM-L U3s on the cheapy copper 3 days ago too! :stare:

The deal is gone...hopefully it will be back soon!

I dont see the tint specified, where did you read it was 1A?

Usually when you order a reel of LEDs from Cree, you order from a range of tints, and you dont know the exact tint you get until you receive the LEDs. It is cheaper to order from a wide tint range, and more expensive to order from a narrower tint range. Me being a tint snob myself, I want to know the exact tint before ordering…

They also have XP-L V6-1A pre-order on aluminum base for $3.75 add $1.50 if you want it on a sinkpad

some people prefer the XML2, but I prefer the XPL simply because there is less tint shift after dedome

Take a look at "Color Temperature". There you can select it.

don't forget BLF15 for 15% off Smile I just bought some optics and an XP-L V6 3A on a sinkpad from them, all came to $8.18 inc. a dollar shipping. Actually just went there for the optics as I'm fed up with the agonisingly slow shipping Fasttech.

BLF15 coupon does not work for me when checking out as Guest. Do I need to register an account to use it?

Seems to not apply to the pre-order anymore but works fine for other LEDs.

"Whoa that's a bright light!" ... Yea I guess.

Have you previously dedomed XP-L 1A’s? What approximate tint did you get after the dedome? I’m looking for something not warmer than a 2B or 2C after dedome and wonder if this might be obtainable with the XP-L

Thanks!

I have not dedomed a 1A yet. I have done a couple 2A’s, and they both ended up close to a domed 3C, (but less green, so maybe a 3D or 3A)

Did you dedome using gas method or heat and lift dome with scalpel method?

Gasoline. I hung the star upside down in it and waited for the dome to fall off. It took about 15 hours. I’m not sure why it took longer for me than other people, maybe too much ethanol in the gas?

@pilotdog68,

This is interesting, so you say that the XP-L’s goes 2-3 steps to the right only? i was under the impression that the XM-L2 goes often 3-4 steps to the right + 1 up on the ansi white chart………hmm i may have to rethink my quad XP-L with tint mixing and dedoming build, i based that inadvertently on XM-L2 “rules”

And if the XP-L goes more just right and not so much up maybe a 3D will look nice dedomed? i kind of like warm tints but i had previously thought it would go to much yellow, but it may end up a 4S or 5A2………that sounds very very interesting Smile

I am glad i took notice on this before i placed the large (for me ;)) xp-l order i have been planning, thanks

Is it legit? I have no idea. Just reporting what the page said.

Has a dedomed XP-L a better throw as a dedomed XM-L2, because it has a smaller surface?

No, the actual light-emitting surface is the same size on the XML and XPL

Got an update that my order shipped, with tracking (total was $15.40), so maybe orders above $15 get tracking. I had a $12.40 order and it never got tracking.

Edit: seems like Billy put the tracking number I had for another order on this one, oops!
