Help Me Pick a Gift! - USB EDC

I need your help picking a flashlight that I can give as gifts to clients. I’d prefer a light that meets the following criteria:

  • Less than $50, prefer closer to $30 as I’ll be buying 20 of them
  • 800-1000 ANSI lumens
  • Integrated battery or comes with battery (pref. 18650)
  • USB charging capabilities

I really like the Convoy BD-01 but the proprietary charger scares me off. I want people to be able to charge it wherever they’d charge a cellphone.

Bring on your suggestions!!

This one has a removable battery, and a little plugin flashlight module

Contrarian view — ignore if you feel like it.

I’d go for something that takes AA batteries, not lithium ion. There are too many ways (imho) for ill-educated individuals to abuse lithium ion batteries, with catastrophic results.

1000 lumens is great fun and offers “wow”, but I think ordinary people are fully impressed by 200 lumens.

(higher output, AA or 14500 if people figure that out) http://www.fasttech.com/products/1601/10004131/1303602-sunwayman-r10a-cree-xp-g2-r5-2-mode-205-lumen-comp

Have it not personally but I find the eagle eye x6r interesting:

Sideswitch and micro usb in…

Another thing on my watch/wishlist

Contra-contrarian view: if it comes with a battery and it charges from a phone charger, most people will never open it. As long as the built-in charging circuit is safe, it’s as safe as other devices that come with lithium-ion batteries like laptops and cell phones.

Since you’re buying 20 you might get a discount from either banggood/neal (registered as banggood on this forum) or eagle eye eagleeyeflashlight@yeah.net
Buy protected cells. The X6R, should you choose it, has a low voltage indicator but it doesn’t switch itself off. Don’t buy anything with -fire in the name.

Have you considered the nite core “tube”? its not 1000lm but with the code less then $8 and meets all your other spec and from a major name.

definitely EDC

Check with “M4D MAX” for the savings code.

I really like that tube, it is pretty bright, very small and light and rechargeable……I hate buying batteries

I did consider the TubeVn. It’s not so much the price as it is giving a gift that creates a big impression and a memorable experience. I want them to pull it out at parties, people to ask them where they got it from, and them respond “oh this? from my super awesome, amazing Realtor … you should totally call him”.

My other concern with the Tube … it looks so much like the crappy button lights of yesteryear.
