Big Storm Coming to New England!

Keep hearing it may well be a “Top 5 Storm” on the tube, been charging batteries all day!

I remember a time, when I searched for lights to fit my needs. Now I search for needs to fit my lights.

Thats the drama with these sorts of issues, its not exactly predictable with any certainty, and governments are damned if they do, and damned if they dont when they get it wrong, but people expect them to have acted when it all goes natural disaster. Hindsight, if only.

Of course, no praise only criticism, its always wrong, and if its right its still all wrong.

Please don’t take these storm warnings for granted. My family is a survivor of Yolanda (Haiyan) in Leyte, Philippines and nothing in my 44 years of existence in this earth has prepared me for that Super Typhoon. Stay safe!

Just got started in Central Maine @ 6 am. We’re expecting 16 – 20” by Wednesday, a real honest to Joe Nor’easter here. Have plenty of batteries charged and the back-up generator at the ready.

They sat about 10-12 inches on south-central Long Island, but it's hard to measure. With all the wind there's 2.5-3 feet near fences, bushes and such windbreaks but still some grass poking up in the middle of the lawn. The snowplows pushed a few feet of packed snow across the driveway, though. Your tax dollars at work. Tongue Out

The bad thing is my Eagle EyeX6 SE's were 'out for delivery' yesterday. Then, in the late afternoon the status changed to 'Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available)'. There were no footprints in the snow, so they didn't try to deliver. Whatever happened to "Neither rain nor snow nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."? It didn't really get bad until ~10PM. Probably closed today, too. Frown

We got slammed pretty good here in Rhode Island. The 9th most snowiest storm of all time.

Got about 2 feet here, didn’t crack the top 5 for Boston but made number 6.

I remember a time, when I searched for lights to fit my needs. Now I search for needs to fit my lights.

Get ready for round 2! Ding. It’s coming with a vengeance. 8 to 14 inches expected to fall again in the North East.

All the schools around Utica, NY are closed.

Wind is very strong and snow is drifting very bad in places.

To windy to snow-blow right now.

Coming down pretty good here right now, 4-6 on the ground predicting 10-12. More of an annoyance than storm.

Officially 16.5” inches in Detroit, looks more like 12” to me? Back in the day us kids would be out bumper hitching (“shagging cars”) all night long!!

If you get that much of snow at one time, how long will it stay on ground? Days, weeks or months?

In Maine, that snow will probably hang around until late March or into early April, depending on how quickly things warm up and if we get rain.

Got about 8-10" overnight, with another 1-3" due to fall today.  Already dug my car out, but still stuck due my lot not having been plowed.

+1! I was talking about bumper hitching just the other day.

When I was about 15 my little brothers each got a set of “Snow Boats” for Christmas. They were these cheap little skis, more like little sleds you strapped on your boots. Strap those babies on and find an oil delivery truck and you could go for miles!

One Christmas got a brand new Ski Jacket. My Snorkel Jacket was still soaked from the night before, so I wore the Ski jacket and when belly hitching, the guy dragged us across an intersection that was dry trying to knock us off, I made it across, but my new ski jacket was shredded. A couple day’s later the ole man asked why I wasn’t wearing it? I told him it was for skiing? Didn’t go skiing for a long time…..then I out grew it!

I just got done clearing out my driveway with my snow blower. I had about 6 inches with a changeover to freezing rain. The temps dropped like a rock and it is back to snow again. Its about 17 degrees out now.
