No need to solder mine, but thanks for offering. And thanks for putting this together.

These are not as “plug and play” as other drivers we buy since they come without wires or springs which are certainly easy enough to add and completely change the shipping paradigm but the note on the solder jumpers for 1 cell or 2 cell operation could be easily missed and I’m trying to give everyone more of an opportunity to know about this detail. All I can say is “read the info thread op from end to end” and if there’s anything you don’t understand then ask. The most striking difference between this forum and another is the willingness to help that dominates the responses to questions.

No need to do anything with any of mine either(well, besides ship them!). Looking forward to getting these behind some LEDs! Thank you so much for going through all the trouble to put this together for us!

Sparkey is right! Thanks Scott for all your effort. I bet this group buy wasn’t near as easy as you thought going into it. These things seldom are. However, those drivers look so SWEET! Led4power is a genius with manufacturing skills too boot! The BLF is always growing, with the likes of you two and many others. I’m off to meet some friends, can’t wait to show those boys some state-of-art flashlights. I’m sure they will be requesting a few lights, good thing the drivers are coming!

Hey Babe, check out my new light!!

I’m still interested if I’m at the top of your double secret list.

Wolves will be shot at the perimeter and fed to the kittens. Silly

The old saying holds true here, money talks and bullschit walks. Drivers! Drivers! Put your money on the table for the worlds bestest new drivers! Order up! Smile

(I don’t NEED 10, but there was an open window on a good opportunity, ya know?) Still thinking of framing a panel of 4 and hanging em on the wall. Smile not like they wouldn’t be there if/when needed… right?

Hey, if they can hawk tickets to a game…

I was actually thinking in terms of hearing the call, such that I pounced on 10 while the getting was good. I know when the LD-1 came out I didn’t buy but like 4 and they were gone almost immediately, used up in several different ways and now I don’t even remember which lights have em! (which means I haven’t been rotating my play time lately huh? lol)

This was an excercise in pulling teeth. That anyone would buy extras for the overwhelming pleasure of pulling more is an idea beyond my comprehension. But thank god he created masochists too. Pain/pleasure, trash/treasure, something profound in there I’m sure of it. Tired Cash

Yup.

Escaped at last. Fwiw, all needed non-machinable and some needed extra ounce as well but thanks to the more than sufficient generosity of you guys it was all covered.

Not if Dale has any say in it. I spent the money on insurance for that box instead of speed. There are two Bay Area boys and a couple more from SoCal as well as Oregon and Washington. I hope to hear the first notices possibly tomorrow and no later than Wednesday and then more on Thursday. After that should be a steady stream. A few might take a week or more if the postal system runs to form.

For the record, I was able to solder the moon kit with a fine tip iron and mag lamp. Easiest to pretin one pad for each part, then anchor to that pad first then solder the other pad(s). The fine tip I use is maybe 1.5 mm with a 45^ oval surface. Similar to larger 3mm beveled oval tip I use for soldering mcpcb wires.

I just realized (having read the info thread again) that the 2S operation requires extra components that I don’t have and didn’t order. So, I guess I will be using both of my drivers as 1S only! Silly Or, maybe in the future I’ll have a stash of parts lying around like some of you guys, and I’ll be able to change one or both of them to 2S at that future date. By which time, the LD-5 XTREME Edition will be out on the market! Shocked

I’m sure those parts can be sourced. I have extras of all the moon kits and 2-cell resistors just not the IC’s for 2-cells.

6V kit parts:

IC is opamp MCP6H01 or similar,in SC-70 (SOT-323-5) package,resistors are two 750kOhm 0402 size,value isn't critical at all,100k-1M is fine,but they must be identical.

Rufusbduck and led4power,

Thanks. I know the parts can be sourced, and probably for cheap. I’m not too worried about it. I was just thinking about how RBD offered to solder pads for either one or two cell operation, and I told him to keep it open for me to choose later, when actually there is no choose later (without buying and soldering more components). I could have just as well told him to go ahead and solder them. Soldering the pads is no big deal either. I’m just going “Doh!” over the fact that I missed that detail. Like I said, one of these days I’ll have pieces parts lying around and it won’t matter anyway. But, I only ordered two drivers, and I don’t even have a definite use for either of them yet. So, I will simply keep it in mind that they are 1S only when I do come up with a use for them.

I briefly considered just soldering pad 1 on all the orders for which no 2s parts were included and pad 2 on all the boards that had the 2s components installed. But only briefly. Wink
