DX.com - four strikes and your out

I’d like to say I’ve had a good experience with Deal Extreme, unfortunately I can’t. I ordered some Sanyo 18650 batteries from DX last year. Never arrived (after several months). I contacted them and they resent the order (along with asking $1.70 more for tracking). Finally got that order a month later.

Ordered three of the Zippo style keychain fluid bottles after this experience. They actually arrived but the quality was pretty bad. One of them didn’t even have a rubber seal. They refunded partially.

Ordered some 14500 batteries that never arrived. They refunded partially but put $2 of the refund into store credit for some odd reason. Got an email a few weeks ago saying that they had switched carriers and were very sorry for all the delays and orders that never arrived. They gave me a $2 coupon code. Okay, great. So I used the $2 credit and the $2 coupon and bought….a flashlight

It had been 9 days and it suddenly hit me that I’d never received an ‘item shipped’ email. So I went into my account and the item was out of stock. The listing never said it was out of stock when I ordered. I went back to the listing and it still doesn’t say out of stock. I contacted them. They said it isn’t out of stock…just the vendor hasn’t sent them any yet. Isn’t that the same thing as being out of stock? Anyway I told them the listing doesn’t advise that and they could have at least let me know. They asked for me to wait another 10 days. I told them I had already waited 9 and would still have to wait another month or so after that for the shipping. I asked for a FULL refund.

I lost the $2 CC of course. They refunded everything except the $2 credit and said that would have to be done manually and would take 7-10 days. They asked if I would order again from DX. I simply asked them if they would continue to order from a company that had provided the same service as they had offered me. Apparently that wasn’t the question they were wanting to answer.

If you’ve had a good experience with DX, count yourself lucky. I will no longer be ordering anything from them. I can handle the 3-4 weeks delivery, though in the 21st century that is pretty poor. But the continual screw ups…no, I’m done.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with dx. I did a half a dozen orders with them in the past - all the orders showed up in about 30 days except for one, which was refunded through paypal.

If something doesnt arrive - a paypal claim should be filed immediately (assuming you paid through paypal)- the seller must prove the item was delivered. If they cannot prove the item was delivered in your zip code, paypal will always refund you in full.

But yeah - most chinese vendors are hit and miss… some even more so than others. I am afraid DX is at the bottom of the list with tmart and dino direct. Good prices and some good items, but there is a risk of things getting screwed up or not showing up at all.

> They said it isn’t out of stock…just the vendor hasn’t sent them any yet. Isn’t that the same thing as being out of stock?

Chuckle. Consider: Chinese lumens (flashlight brightness); Chinese kilometers (national borders); Chinese inventory……

Most of these online sellers are mostly drop-shippers, they often don’t actually have actual stuff on hand to ship, sitting in a warehouse somewhere.
That’s why they rarely even know what they’re selling, and why there’s so much variation if you order “the same thing” several times in a row.

Just figure it’s good news. If they ever got it together they could rule the world.

Just did the PP thing with banggood. Ordered 18650’s back in April that never arrived. Did the CS route and kept getting the usual ‘can you please to check mailing address and/or contact you post office’ routine. After three times of this I contacted PP and in one day BG is refunding me the money.

I’ve made the decision to start ordering from folks like M.E. or similar. I might pay a bit more, but at least it will arrive. And usually in a few days rather that a couple of months (FT took 60+ days for a battery order last year).

I hate DX. Nothing but bad customer service from them over several orders. Too long to explain here. Never again.

I’ve had several positive experiences with Gearbest (and nothing negative). I’ve had several positive experiences with select vendors on Ali (such as Simon who makes Convoy). But DX has been 100% negative experiences, so they are off my list regardless of what they advertise. I’m likely to cross Banggood and Fasttech off my list as well since it’s been a mixed experience with each. And too be honest, I’m tired of waiting two months for batteries that are 50/50 on the chances they’ll actually arrive. I’ll be happy to pay a bit extra and KNOW they’ll arrive in a week or less. M.E. has been 100% positive and everything I’ve ordered has arrived within 3 days of shipping.

Simply put, I’m jumping off the Chinese-lotto crazy train.

I never order the batteries from china!!

Or any stuff with batteries inside

Reason : Shipping by sea => 2 months min time!! ( express shipping anywhere between $20-$50 atleast, so mostly out of question )

Once ordered Xiaomi 10000 mAh from dx.com, after 45-50 days , contacted them ,reply : because it contains batteries , its shipped by sea , it will reach u a bit slowly by 60 days !!!

I got the package in 63 days !!!

The 1st & last I am ordering battery related stuff from china!!!

So u are better off by buying locally !!! or online seller in ur country !!! ( esp : Anything with batteries !!!

But china and india are just close, is vehicle land travel possible between china and india?

Had another negative Aliexpress experience so they’re pretty much off my list now as well. With the exception of Simon and the Convoy S2+. I ordered another one that’s on the way. He shipped fairly quickly and I’ve not had any issues with his service. As for FT, BG and DX I will no longer order from them at all. Just isn’t worth the hassle in my opinion. I’ll use the vendors I’ve never had an issue with.

I think fasttech has got warehouse in USA !!! u can check that with fasttech!

So, u are able to use USPS expedited and shipping 10days !!!

I think if its coming from US warehouse , it can even reach u within 3-5 days , if they have PRIRORITY shipping,

( I use to buy camera stufff from Bhphotovideo & ship to US address to my brother/ friends,)

To me, they are just like banks and wireless carriers: I want stuff from China, so it’s a matter of deciding which company I dislike the least. Right now for me that’s GB and Fasttech.

I’ve had mostly good experiences with FT (other than an item being backordered for nearly a month) and BG as well. I’ve crossed DX off my list about 3 years ago. I’ll still order from DX if there’s no other choice, but will happily pay more for a reliable delivery, as mentioned by other people already.

Not that DX has any competitive prices. They are usually pricier than others.

About year or two ago they had this sale where if you placed 100$ worth in your cart you’d have to pay only 50%, obviously it was just like those seckill deals where site constantly crashed, I finally managed to get to my cart, but during checkout their page crashed and the shopping cart would appear empty, obviously I didnt buy anything this way.

Next time was about a year ago, I ordered bunch of hh radio batteries and clips, they never arrived and I got full refund.

To me, they are worse than GB had ever been.

My sister hates DX. She builds little survival kits. I think she ordered 500 of something and they sent her 5. Then they strung her along with emails until the PP dispute window closed, at which point they just started ignoring her. She knew the window was closing but they were really nice and acting like it was all going to get worked out, which should serve as an example. So, they took her for several hundred bucks.

Did she wait 180 days or was it the older, 45 day window? In either way, she could have escalated this issue with her bank/cc issuer?

This was a couple years ago so it must’ve been the 45 day window. I think what happened is they said “we shipped the rest here’s the tracking” and when it arrived it was 5 more whistles instead of 495. Something like that, to where when she got the replacement order, it was wrong, too, and too late for PP. She’s still mad about it.

Theres a way around it, but its been a while.

Buy something, file paypal even if you receive the item. And call it a day. But then we won't stoop to their level of trickery right?

I wouldn’t personally do that, and I don’t think she would either, but I’ll pass that on, thanks. I also wouldn’t shed any tears for for them if anyone had to resort to that. Live by the sword, right?

I placed an order with them for the first time on the 14th of December, no sign of it yet but I’m guessing that it could just be down to the Xmas/New year holidays,……I’m in the UK by the way.
