New Kaidomain 17mm buck driver, 2.9A

Not sure if anyone has posted this before, the new Kaidomain 17mm buck driver can deliver up to 2.9A as they claim and comes with different mode options. Price is not bad but it can only take a single 18650.

My questions are:

  1. Can it be modded (changing the inductor?) to support 8.4V of input voltage?
  2. The MCU looks like the Attiny13A, maybe we can flash all these BLF custom firmware into it?

That would be something wonderfull if all it needed was a zener diode somewhere to get 2s out of it.

The MCU does not look like Attiny13A, looks like a PIC MCU, you can see the Microchip logo.

While you can change the inductor, the MCU will not take 8.4V

Is it possible to do a zener-mod as what Serifus suggested to allow the MCU sees lower voltage feeding to it while using 2S?

What is the input max rating of the step-down IC matters also, some caps may be rated 6.3V, I mean some 8.4V possible incompatibilities (some not even as instant issues, may work for a while) besides the MCU max input voltage.
