Im looking for a charger, this one is well recommended and the price is right…
But the biggest downside is that it only comes with a USB plug??? Id like to plug it into the wall…please advise what other people do to get around this or what to do.
I got the same charger from Gearbest sale and decided to upgrade my USB charging with a BlitzWolf™ 40W Smart 5-Port High Speed Desktop Charger. There’s an 18% discount if you get the coupon code from M4DM4X.com website.
I tried to find the adaptor (output DC 5V, 2.1A), but couldn’t. So I use my adaptor came with Samsung cell phone. Its spec. is 5.2V, 2A. Not bad. It Works well.
I use the iPad wall USB charger and it works fine. On cheap batteries (*fire) the charge current drops though (nothing to do with the charger, the VC4 is good).
With Samsung 18650 the current is a stable 1A on slot 1/4.
My VC4 has “2.1A” printed on the back, right where the cable plugs in.
I have tested two different Apple chargers (once the iPhone one, once the iPad variant), a generic 2A charger (frys.com) and tried my ATX2 USB selfbuilt power supply (up to 30A).
While none of the chargers didn’t work, you should be better off with a 2.1A+ rated charger if you have decent batteries in the slots.
No, because that linked adapter supplies 12V/2A with the wrong barrel.
I believe the VC4 requires a 5.5x2.5mm barrel and the right cable is already in the box with the device. All you need is a USB power adapter (where the VC4 cable plugs in). Any standard USB power supply will work (ideally above 2.1A). A tablet charger is a good idea.
edit:
Whatever you end up using, please make sure it is 5V. The regular 12V barrel connectors shouldn’t fit anyway.
Thanks to all who answered - much appreciated, one thing always turns into something else, LOL.
So with that advice Im going order this thing when it comes down in price, Ive read you can get them for 20$ on sale, and it seems to be the best rated USB wall charger. I can use it for other things too…
I have the Anker 3 port USB charger. I was using that before I found an appropriate 2.5A wall wart at a PC recycle place. It worked fine as it could output 2.1A.
I think it’s better. You can find reviews on all of those in HJK’s site.
