Anyone here try halogen reflector narrow angle spot type MR11 or MR16 for DIY reflective collar? Could these be used once the “socket” was cut out leaving a hole. What type of reflective material, aluminum or dichronic would be better?
Yeah i tried that several years ago - without any good result- its just they are designed for an emitter thats inside not on the border of the reflector and the modding would take lots of your time - at the same time there are realy great and cheap china reflector based spots- you just have to swap their COB chip and the driver and voila- youll have a great spotlight
This is what i did a year ago with my home 38 pcs spotlight: now they are running with Bridgelux high CRI( 97) SSL chips and selfmade drivers- you cant buy that even now, noone produces a real high CRI spotlights, even if they do the price would be….
I diyed my whole house and garden lighting this way btw
This could work, in spite of i `ve found mine on Ali ways cheaper….as logn as i can remember they were 1.9$ or something with a terrible cob chip included
Think we are on the wrong page and maybe I should have phrased it differently. I was referring to something like a wavien collar using the reflector of a MR11 or MR16.
