Looking for 1 x 26650 host flashlight EDIT: host for 3 x AA battery carrier

I'm looking for a good host (1 x26650). I want to put a 3 x AA battery carrier in it. Something solid with good heat displacement (integral pill would be nice). Enough room in the pill to play around with various drivers.

Once I find the host, im hoping the mod will appear in a dream.

Edit: I was just informed that 3xAA battery carrier is too large for a standard 26650 torch. I just assumed, and should have checked first. Any ideas?

i think you need 32650 host, 3xAA are larger in diameter than 26mm.

Lumintop sd10 for example.

I just checked, and your right. I think there are some lights out there that offer 26650/AAA interchangeability, that’s why I assumed they’d fit.
I have some nice 3S AA battery carriers that I figured would give me more driver/emitter options when loaded with 14500s. Now I need to rethink things.

Once I find a host for the carrier, I’ll decide. (3S 14500) single, triple, flood, throw. The mod depends on the host.

I saw that one. It’s not available any more.

Most lights that can use D-batteries or a 32650 will be large enough to mod to a 3-AA carrier. SD10, Mag-D, Defiant-D, etc.) 3-AAA carriers diameter fit the 26650 lights.

Not true.

I bought a SAIK SA-305 on ebay.

Built it up with an XHP70 and 3s 14500“s DD

FACT (6V emitter, 12v carrier) and it works (the carrier is the weak link). The voltage drop from the XHP70 probably pulls it down far enough. They are tough emitters and are hard to kill one with 14500 cells. Will be more cautions when I get good cells is it.

It goes pretty good. I am waiting on good cells before I push it.

I need a “good” 3s 14500 carrier so if you have extras let me know!!!

OL’s first build was the SAIK SA-305.

The two weak points that need to be addressed are the hollow pill and the plastic lens, but other then that, it is a solid build and nice form factor light. It would make a great custom in series triple.
