I’ll add one other option. If you’re looking for an inexpensive charger for AA and AAA NiMH cells, that does a good job, look for the Panasonic BQ-CC17 charger that often comes bundled with Eneloop batteries, found in places like Costco. It’s slow, but is a smart charger with individual channel charging. Supports 1-4 AA or AAA cells charging in any configuration. For a cheap charger, it’s very good.
^ Thanks for your comment, looks like it is nice charger - however it will not suit my needs.
Most of my devices are powered by AA/AAA however I also have flashlights that run on 18650
If ALL you care about is charging, the Xtar is simple and works fine. I have one and use it frequently. It may charge a bit fast at 0.5A for AAA but I haven’t had any problems.
If you want to be able to do some cell analyzing, cycling, and have a LOT more control over HOW you charge the Opus is a clear winner. I have one and use it a lot for both charging and more advanced functions. Since I got this one I hardly use my hobby charger.
The LiitoKala Engineer Lii-500 looks pretty comparable to the Opus but I’m not personally familiar with it. Both it and the Opus are a cut above the Xtar.
