Hi, have been lurking here and reading a lot. I’m a beginner at flashlight making/modding. It all seems quite interesting. I’m an amateur hobby machinist. I have a decent lathe and milling machine that I play with.
I have an interest in making a few DQG Fairy style key chain lights from aluminum, brass, bronze etc. Figured this would be a good place to learn something useful. Seems to be a lot of knowledge on this board.
Hello and welcome.
It is a friendly place with many knowledgeable member’s.
Welcome to BLF!

Hi and welcome 17abtrpcarr. It sounds like your set up well to get stuck right into this cheap hobby. Parts, you will need lots of parts and time to do the machining to put everything together. I’m looking forward to see what you produce.

i usually give reference by way of Pittsburgh… about an hour more or less south of it… “Belle Vernon” is the nearest big size thing to find on a map, though its not my exact location.
I actually was up in north central once, near the border. Beautiful mountain area. Took my vacation every year for a once a year gun competition thingy, held in a different state every year, that year was north central PA… hated to leave, it was beautiful.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes. I hope I can contribute more than I take from the forum, but we’ll see I guess. I know absolutely nothing about building flashlights, but that’s one of the reasons I’m here.
Mutto, I don’t live near Williamsport, but I went to school there a long time ago…Penn Tech.
h2o, counties are Elk, Cameron, and Clearfield.
sedstar, It sure is beautiful in the mountains here if you are an outdoors person like most of us around here are. If you’re not enthralled by that stuff you’d be bored pretty quickly.
Welcome to BLF, friend!
