Charging sub-C NiCd in series question

Hi, folks. Been lurking here for years and this is my first post. Apologies if I’m rehashing an old topic, but I just want to be sure. Ran a search but couldn’t come to a conclusion about my doubt, so would appreciate answers.

I’m trying to charge 3 sub-C 1900mAh nickel cadmiums in series (it’s a prebuilt battery pack) with a dumb 400mA 4.5v charger. Because the batteries were unused for years, I’ve run them down to nearly 0v and am considering shorting them overnight. My question is, how long should I leave them on charge for? Would it help charging them with 6v at 400mA?

Thanks!

charge at .1c thats 10% of capacity.
or 190 ma for 16 hours.dont short them as you may reverse a cell and do damage.
sitting idle for years means they need a few full cycles to “wake up”

Ah, thanks for the reply, snakebite. Thought one had to add up the three 1900mAh and then do 0.1C for 16 hours. So in this case 8 hours sounds perfect, correct?
