cheap Boruit 18650 4000mAh battery...buy or not?

Hi guys, I’ve find this: ” 2 x 18650 Boruit at GB”:http://www.gearbest.com/chargers-batteries/pp_171928.html at only 3,28$
Well, at the moment I use only well know brands name like Samsung, Sanyo, Eagletac etc etc. And we know you have to pay for quality…But sometime you can find diamonds in the trash so… Well, are this cells garbage or for a “normal” use they are good enought to not explode in your face? :smiling_imp:
Thank you

They are absolutely lying about their capacity, as there are no 18650’s over 3600mah. For that reason alone, I say do not buy them. Positive reviews mean nothing when they come from people who don’t know what they are buying. At best you will get a cell with very low capacity. At worst you will get a cell that is downright dangerous to use.

If you just want extra cells to keep around, go digging for laptop or toolpack pulls, they will be cheaper and name-brand.

If you want reliable performance for lights you use often, buy cells that are known to be good.

This are some of the customer’s review on GB…
Well, that said, you’re right when said:

Now on Gearbest you can find some good deal like this: 4xICR18650 26FM 2600mAh at only 10,99$ Very good deal, no?
They are not protected but are Samsung (hope genuine!)

Or this: 4xICR18650 26FM 18650 2600mAh Protected at 16,19$ :+1:
Or another good deal, for me, is that:4 x ICR18650 28A 2800mAh Protected at 17,29$

For a flashlight 4x18650 batteries in series, which one do you suggest?

The fact that some people measure 1200mah and some measure 2000mah tells me that they are not only low capacity, but inconsistent. That makes me want them even less.

I don’t think I would personally ever put 4 in series, I don’t trust myself enough. I use two in series, but 4 is twice the responsibility. If I were to do 4S, I would use protected, but the protected 26FM are very long.

I have quite a few of the Samsung 26FM though, they are great general-purpose batteries.

Avoid like the plague.

I buy from gearbest, but I wouldn’t buy these batteries. Don’t trust their customer reviews - I’ve scored a few items low with constructive negative comments and those reviews somehow disappeared.

the wildly differing capacity reports tell me they are recycled cells ala whateverfire.
we can recycle cells ourselves and do much better.
dammed few of the reviews on such cells are from someone “in the know”
and the few that are tell the story.so the junks sellers have a new brand to abuse.add vander to this list.

You’ve convinced me!
Thank you very much guys! :+1:

I have to put 4x18650 on my next flashlight, the Thorfire S1, BLF review!
I think finally I’ll buy Samsung 4xICR18650 28A 2800mAh They are protected and cost 17,29$, though Thorfire recommend to use 3000 mAh for better performance. Well, I hope 2800mAh will be enought

Cheap is expensive.
Why buy batteries twice when all you really need to do is buy smartly once?

I have a 4000mah 18650 boruit battery that is actually about 700mah. It also says this:
Keep away from shildren

I would pass. I’ve been meaning to have mine recycled but I always forget.

Sorry if this may bust a bit your bubble Manx, the cells you bought require charging up to 4'3V to deliver their full capacity. Check this out: Samsung ICR18650-28A 2800mAh (Purple) @ lygte-info.dk

On the other hand, at the standard 4'2V you should be able to get twice the lifespan from them. :THUMBS-UP:

Hope this helps.

Cheers ^:)

4 of these 3.4Ah Panasonics would be cheaper

Mmm, somehow I thought Manx had already pulled the trigger.

And yes, as L4M4 said 4 × NCR18650B protected button top @ GearBest is on flash sale now.

Cheers ^:)

P.S.: for articles not on flash sale, try “GBLED2016”. :-)

Oh guys!! You really save my ass!! And my money too!!! Thank you

Oh God…! :person_facepalming:

Highly skeptical of these. Any truth to this ?

I guess it’s as truthful as their 6800 mAh 18650:
