Imalent DT35

Has anybody played with one of these. Definitely NOT a budget light at over $250. Curious though

Don’t think so. Official release was today, but delayed… Discussion of all four new Imalent lights is done here:

That’s a lot of lights for one thread.

DT35: This item should fit into a collection of multiple emitter XHP35 lights.

I have a very small and a very large multiple emitter XHP35 light, so I am now looking at the selection of very medium size multiple emitter XHP35 lights.

70 mm head diameter size classification should provide for a bit more heat management, power and throw than the 63 mm Niwalker MM20EB, but this item is speced at much, much more lumens.

Game Plan: Wait and see, if I can; or buy now if I can’t wait.

Just received it the other day, it feels light, not as robust as Nitecore, deep reflectors, pain in the neck to operate, only accept protected high drain batteries… which is hard to get, no spring in the tailcap, can’t put spring in either, light stopped working within minutes as batteries lost contact with the driver due to imbalance height of the batteries.
Batteries are in 4P configuration, head are slightly bigger than common SRK and slightly longer too.
I really doubt it, that the light put out 8500 lumens, and oh yeah,… turbo doesn’t always work especially when less than 4 batteries made contact with the driver.

I’ll say stay clear from this light, unless you willing to mod it somehow.

@DayLighter

Can you please provide some Beamshots? Or comparsion to an equal Flashlight?

Such a bummer. If the batteries don’t make proper contact as there is no spring, then it’s probably not a good idea to use the built-in charger? Who knows you’re only charging three out of four batteries, and suddenly the fourth battery makes contact…

So sad

Imalent DT35 Chinese Review

Thanks for the link. And welcome to BLF

Thanks , i hope my ordered DN70 will not disappoint me that much

Already shipped on monday

Nice one! I’m also interested in the DN70. One thing that bugs me is that it seems all these lights start from high, then mid, then low. So the DN70 starts from 2500 lumens (probably a bit less in reality)… I’d rather have the possibility that such a light starts from low…

Edit:

Hey DayLighter,

Is there some kind of compliance in the part where the negative of the batteries are in contact with in the bottom of the battery tube, or is it really a solid piece of metal? Thanks in advance!

Review DT35:

Disappointing! Imalent seems to always overestimate their actual lumens a lot.

Any reason you can’t use high drain button top cells? or these high drain protected cells?

I suspect length is too short; a button top protection circuit adds more length. The light is probably very picky with battery length. My guess…

From the German review

Artifact fest. It’s like a kaleidoscope.

Yeah I was actually laughing when I’ve seen the beam pattern.

I played with it… yes it is much brighter than my Nitecore TM16 GT, but we’re comparing apple to orange as nitecore is using XP-LHI Leds.
I tried using other batteries, including IMRs and add washers to increase the height of the batteries until it’s about the same height as imallent button top batteries, but for some reason the light just refuse to work :person_facepalming:

Wow, 4P configuration. That is one powerful boost circuit. Something like ~30A input current.

Buy this light only if you’re willing to spend more money on high discharge protected batteries, for the price?..
my DT70 are better value, as it is brighter than my Olight X7 or Haikelite MT03 and came with batteries too

But if I have to choose? My Nitecore TM16 GT with XP-L HI are better, it’s not pocketable as DT35 but at least it’s not so picky with the batteries… and oh yeah cheaper too, just ask around for the code

Edit: TM16 price is higher now, and imallent price is lower too :person_facepalming: :confounded:
