[Help] Looking for a 3A 16V buck driver with thermal protect to overdrive an XHP70. Any recommendations?

Hey all, looking to build a dive light but want a safety incase it flips on while dry.

Looking to overdrive a 12V XHP70 @ 3A with a 16.8V (4s) pack and need thermal protection.

Does anyone know of a driver that can support this? I can accept up to a 30mm board.

Well, if you don’t mind self-assembly: Texas Buck Driver

The Texas Buck driver series, Q8 / Skyray King 2S/4S buck driver RELEASED! — check that Texas Buck link? It’s coming up not found

It worked for me. Sadly not looking for self-assembly. I don’t have the tools or skills to build one. Also 46mm is too big for me. Thanks though!

You could check out Mountain Electronics. Richard, the owner, is a member here. His nick is RMM. He has designed a buck driver called Mountain MAX. His site claims to be out of stock on those, but he might build you one if you ask him. They are capable of ~16.8V input.

I emailed asking and none of the MTN MAX drivers are thermal protected.

I did come across this one: http://www.kaidomain.com/p/S024010.4-18V-3-Mode-Drive-Circuit-Board-for-1-x-Cree-XHP70

Can anyone help verify that it’d work with a 12V LED? It doesn’t actually specify and KaiDomain didn’t respond to an email (sent last week). I’m guessing its for 6V because of the 4.5-5A statement but MTN MAX says the same for theirs but the output current can be adjusted.

It should. It’s buck-boost

4 x xml serial would be 12v
