I want to see a XHP-70.2 on it! It should still throw like crazy at least farther than my eyes can see anyway with lots of lumens to spare
I have a BLF GT-70.2 and in my eyes the throw is not what shocks me. About 200 to 400 yards is hard for my eyes to determine throw, but not brightness.
A palm tree that I shot with my TN42 vn had a small tight circle of light on it (at the leaves) with the Thrunite TN42 vn. The same palm tree with the BLF GT-70 is in daylight the entire palm tree and houses and everything….. I mean 200 to 400 yards away in daylight….. It’s crazy…..
Yes, for practical ranges the XHP70.2 is a more useful light IMHO. I never would of guessed it would make these kinds of numbers.
I wonder why he put that comic sans “G” on there? It reminds of that prototype that said Giggles.
I had not even noticed the “G”, but you are exactly right… it sure does look like ‘Giggles’.
Yeah, and VOB has a lathe. I thought he might have shortened it and cut new threads. Now that I think about it, it doesn’t really make sense for him to cut down the double length tube.

Does it count if you measure the lux at 5m or should I be measuring it from farther away
Cause my GT gets 1,235,000 cd at 5m
5m is fine, usually the readings are a bit higher at 10m.
^That.
5 meter is bit short, you may be off a few percent, some people even claim that 20 meter is not enough for good collimation and thus correct measurement. And technically they are correct.
But then I claim that the error of their luxmeters is more significant than the difference of measuring between 5m and 40m.
Moreover, the focuspoint of not all GT’s is at infinity as it should be, so if you have a very unlucky GT, the best collimation could even be at 5m.

So I’ll test it tonight and if the cd drops off after 5m it’s not a good focus? I damn well hope it isn’t cause that will bother me is there any way to fix it if it’s out of focus?
And if it changes anything I switched my led to a 5700k

It dropping after 5m can also be a sign of humidity / dust in the air.

Wavien collar coming soon.
Very nice, I have on of those optics myself but have not had time to figure out the mounting setup, I figure I will 3D print it but just have not had time.
Initial measurement with the Optolife lens, flat black, and wavien collar is 3.2 mcd measured at 15 meters. The numbers can possibly be improved with fine tuning, but I am happy! I’m running the flat black at 4.5 amps.

That looks really cool!
How much do they add to the throw?

Nice. Throw distance is less as weight has been added to the light.

Nope – it was built by a guy on Reddit.

I sent him a PM to ask about the G. This was his response:
Definitely a nod to the prototype.
The battery tube hasn’t been cut down – it’s a 3D printed part. Note that it’s missing the o-rings.
Nope, my light is still safe and sound with me, I still love the giggles engraving on it.
I did post the laser engraving file for the GT so I am guessing someone else used it to engrave their own.

4” PVC cleanout adapters (2) are what I used. They were easy to chop and sand to get good focus and retain the lens from the top.
Great job on the mod!
