Anybody has tried to swap the stock driver of the clear Convoy C8 XP-L HI into an FET driver? And what is the lux reading you can get?
I did, makes already good flashlight even more powerfull, not sure about the lux readings, I only have basic lux meter (like in the pic) but not enough time to learn how to use it, so it pretty much collects dust :/
I measured the intensity of my Astrolux C8 (got it from BG almost two weeks ago but hadn’t had the time to post my readings) and I got a lux reading at start of 5,350lx at 5m which is equal to 133,750cd. I don’t have a fancy lux meter, just this . Lux reading dropped to 5,200lx after 30 seconds.

I want to trust your numbers, but did you ever measured a well known thrower from a reputable brand to see if your luxmeter is trustable ?
Thank you

Yup, I do understand your concern. The problem with these meters is that the user has no way of knowing whether they are properly calibrated. The calibration is left to the user. Anyway, the only other real thrower that I have right now is the Klarus G35. I measured 254,300cd at start and 251,000cd after 30 seconds. I guess posting numbers should include a caveat that the one posting the numbers does not guarantee the accuracy of the readings, haha.
the candela reading of the klarus g35 you got matches factory claims.
your reader seems to be fairly accurate. I have the c8 also and its an amazing little light. so small and such a long throw. (surprises me every time i turn it on).
I imagine astrolux can keep up with a larger demand, idk
