Just ordered a 18650 head lamp . Wondering , would an aluminum housing contain a flaming cell ? I only have one good eye left .

To answer OP question, no, aluminium tube isn’t going to contain a flaming cell, if anything, it makes it worse because the gasses build up to a higher pressure in the enclosed tube.
Solution: use good quality cells and a good quality charger.

Thanks , though I did enjoy all the replies . Didn’t get them all but that’s OK . So if a 18650 decided to vent on my head , it would not be good .
Really if you have any concerns about lithium batteries I wouldn’t have them anywhere near my head or face. Just use a good headlamp that uses AAs.
