Hi from Western India

I registered a short while a ago and was still lurking.

About time I said hello.

I came here while looking for information on the latest LEDs and related things, and been coming back regularly. You guys have a wonderful collection of information here.

My fall down the rabbit hole has been way faster then I imagined. From buying a simple 100 lumen light, discovering that there’s way more “enlightenment” to be had. Quickly followed by discovering CRI. Got an Astrolux A01 and ended up using a pencil on it (thanks guys). Now I’ve got a Jaxman E2 and a driver upgrade on the way.

All in about two months, I guess Flashaholism hits hard.

Aside from that, I’m a Dutch national living in India for more than a decade. Used to motorcycle, but a recent accident will likely cause me to almost completely stop that. However, that means I’ll have more time, so I might just customize or build some lights.

Would like to encourage you all to get in touch, especially if you’re in my neighbourhood (Gujarat, India).

Welcome to BLF! You certainly have found your passion for flashlights and I also believe you have a very interesting background! Can’t wait to see cool (or warm) beamshots from India!

Thank you, FPV.

I do hope to get around to contributing a bit here and there. As for beamshots, I live in one of the major cities which means it’s way bright even without me lighting things up.

One recent development (last year or two) is that all streetlights are now LED based. Angry Blue of course, and they don’t seem to be tropicalized as they fail quite often during the hot season. :person_facepalming:

Welcome to BLF! I’m in India every now and then on work related trips. So far only Delhi but Mumbai is planned early next year. I don’t like the air in Delhi, but the food… ahh… the food!

Hey how are you doing man? And welcome to BLF!

Welcome to BLF!!!

Welcome fellow indian… I mean dutchie indian… :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m from way down south. Had quite a bit of fight with our municipal counselor when she decided to replace our sodium street lamps with Cool Crap White LEDs.

It's a pleasure to know you, Alienon2wheels!

All, thanks for your warm welcome.

DoubleA: Nice to hear from you. And the LED lights are a true eyesore here too.

AlexGT: Nailed it

Mike C: if you ever come through Gujarat, feel free to drop me line.

You’re not properly welcomed into BLF until Raccoon greets you with 31 knives.

Welcome Alienon2wheels!

Welcome. Yes, you are right about Flashaholism. It is a very contagious and dreadful disease. It’s like a rabid madness that can come out of nowhere. It is very difficult to cure and it can overcome you. People most susceptible to it are usually hobbyist, techies, tinkerers, retirees, folks with the inclination to try out what’s up in technology, or just normal people with plenty of spare time and steady flow of money to burn. This place offers sanctuary and compassion to the afflicted.

Techie and tinkerer, those words should be my middle names. I have very few things that I didn’t disassemble or overwrote the software long before the warranty was over.

Lights are a fascinating world. Lots of things to try, both in electronics and software. Honestly, I’m hoping to do some interesting things, but not sure if I’ll get around to it.

Welcome to BLF, like minded group here.
