Xhp 50.2 light build questions

Alright guys I have some questions. It has been a while since I have built a light, last was like 3-4 years ago and led’s have came a long way since! I am looking at the XHP50.2 and was wondering if it has the cross in zoomies like the 50 or is that no longer a problem? And if I decide to use a smooth reflector instead of a zoomie does it have a dark spot? I am thinking about using a uf-1405 as a host for this led. Does anyone know how well this host holds up to heat? I will be using it for about 20-30 minutes at a time. If 3 amps and 6 volts is all I can do for heat with this host that’s fine but I would like to over drive it so any input on this hosts heat handling would be appreciated. Thanks guys, I’m sure I will have more questions too.

With an aspheric lens light you will definitely see the cross since it is just an image of the LED, but it won’t be as bad as with the first generation XHP50. With a smooth reflector there will be a slightly darker spot in the middle but I gather that it is not that bad, much better than the donut hole you get with the XHP50.

The UF1405 is not the best at dissipating heat but it would probably be OK still. It has a screw-in pill and the head is not directly connected to the body so heat doesn’t travel to the head well. If you are considering reflector lights I would check out the convoy L2 which you can buy as a host.

For those of you that do have a 50.2, what color do you guys like the best? Also how many amps are you running to it? And how long are you able to keep it on with out heat becoming a problem on your amps?

I have xhp50.2 dome on 6500k tint on my olight sr95ut and acebeam L30. Heat is not a problem on the big olight 4200 lumen and i let the light run for 10 minutes straight.. after 10 minutes, the head was 136 fahrenheit and the light handle was 2 fahrenheit..

Xhp50.2 get pretty hot on my acebeam L30 after like 5 minutes.. i see square pattern outside the hotspot on my l30 when i shine at the white wall..

Xhp50.2 add extra lumen and throw over xhp50.

Once again, i didnt mod those lights.. i buy the modded version. From my understanding, olight is not driven hard… l30 probably set to the manufacture number..

Okay got it. Another question I have is that if I decide to go the reflector route instead of the zoomie, what is a good match for the 50.2? What flashlight host has the best heat sync?
