Oops?

I recently did a fair bit of research on a new charger and had settled on the Miboxer C4-12 Upgraded. I typed that term (Miboxer C4-12 Upgraded) into Amazon and was taken to a sales page. I received the charger today. Through all fault of my own doing, I ordered the C4 and not the C4-12 Upgraded. However, the C4 that I received is the C4 V3 and not the C4 version that HJK did his review on.

I’ve searched for a review of this newer V3 but have been unable to locate anything (perhaps my Google-Fu just isn’t as good as I believed it to be!).

Did I seriously err in my purchase? I really wanted the ability to fully discharge and then charge my batteries. However, if this charger won’t do this, that will not persuade me to return it. I haven’t yet opened the sealed box, so I haven’t read the accompanying manual. It appears that the charging rate is slower, but again, that’s still not enough for me to return it; as far as charging batteries for my lights, I have nothing but time!

Any help is much appreciated…btw, I am coming from a Pila charger and an Xtar VCS2. Thanks!

MiBoxer C4-12 (v3) aka ‘C4-Plus’ is a manual / automatic charger of 6 Amps total charge capability: 4x1.5 or 3x2.0 or 2x2.5. It does not discharge the cells for capacity. The only model was the C2-4000 which had a discharge. This was discontinued.
They are pushing the newer model C4-12A which is an automatic / manual charger with 12 Amps total capacity (i.e. 4x3.0).
You would be well served with the model you have at hand unless discharging is a dealbreaker.

For that you need Opus or Liitokala, not MiBoxer.

Thanks for the answers. I’ve gone ahead and put the order in for the Lii500s.

MiBoxer is in an identity crisis. They have a model numbering system not totally coherent*. With some previous models updated and sometimes having the same name, leads to some confusion. And then they have dropped some popular models which just started to show in the stores. Amazon and some others will mislead you after a search.
It is unfortunate as their products offered a very nice display, rich in features and information. They have however kept the temperature sensing probe for those times you manually set it at a high amp charging (relative to the cell).

  • nomenclature of C + number of slots followed by milliampere total capacity. The C4-12 has had some some revisions is now labeled as either the C-Plus (with two select/mode buttons) and the C4-12A (w/ one unique button). Neither follow their numbering system. THese should have been named C4-6000 (former) and the C4-12000 (later).

You’ll be happy with that charger.

It’s still called C4-12 on Aliexpress:

I prefer to call it the C4-12 V2.0.
