I was wondering if there is such a thing already for lights that support usb charging ?
For a light that we could safely gift to very old people, very young people and retards, each of my loved ones seem to be falling in one of those categories.
A muggle mode only firmware with no blinkies, programming capability for number of modes, power of each mode with ability to have a very low max power, and a sequence for entering programming that is very tortuous so no one can enter it accidentaly ?
It could also have a very agressive temp controlled step down, a very conservative low voltage cut off (like 3.2v) and eventually a very conservative USB termination charging voltage like 4.0 or 4.1 to maximize battery life for years.
There is an earlier thread called “grandma light” that is about the same thing. Because of that, I have tried to plug the idea to Sofirn. They already make the SC31 which comes pretty close to what you suggest but it still has a few imperfections that I wanted to see repaired. But Sofirn has too much to do right now and does not want to start with this project atm. Maybe later.
In the meantime, if you want a flashlight that comes pretty cl;ose, get the SC31, a really nice light that is sold too cheap IMO. It is on the Sofirn Aliexpress site, and even on ebay now.
I was on their site the other day and saw a new version SC31B. Not sure what all the differences are but at first glance it looks like it has a higher turbo.
Hey, I missed that. They use a 4000K SST-20 now which is miles better than the XP-G3 there was before. I kind of dislike that they went for higher output with thermal stepdown, it makes it less of a muggle light. And they still use the long press from off to activate the locator light, which is silly, that action should go to the lowest mode
