Um, what battery is this?

I came across this battery I’ve had for years, maybe circa 2012-2013? And while I never paid much attention to the markings, it has occured to me that a rated capacity of 2000mAh might be…optimistic…for a 14500 cell. Anyone ever see one of these before?

Looks like a protected 14500 with a lying rating, is it AA sized?

Yes, AA-sized, but charges as a proper 3.7V 14500. The capacity rating seems awfully high, though, LOL. I noticed that rating on HKJ’s charts for “modern” 14500 batteries average around 800-900mAh.

I have a stack of old 16340 & 14500’s and various other cells with big claims printed on them , most don’t even make 500mah i think 1000mah is about your lot for that type of cell.

Yep, and generally it's low-capacity batteries that have over-the-top claims printed on them.

They know they're not all that great and they're overcompensating.
