This was NOT what you asked for but I gave this Xiaomi USB light to my wife.
Plus a powerbank so she can revive her tablet, phone, digicam, etc. when we’re on holiday.
With a combination like that, you’re killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
I think they (reading lamp) are not usable for paper books. (and most of them for e-readers too)
They are too narrow lighting and too weak. For paper book you want that it lights 2 pages and you can turn page too. Also that it dont add weight to your book (paper books are heavy ) if you hold it with one hand. How you can clip (fasten) it to book.
I got a generic clone…and it’s too short to be useful. May work on a powerbank like in the picture - and I don’t have such a boxy one - but otherwise seems useless.
A guy on Reddit posted this, and I bought immediately. I slap some small magnets on the back and now it’s either in my book or on the fridge. The 3000k temperature is amazing.
Kootek music stand light. It’s not “warm” though, It’s ten LEDs that I assume are 5000K.
It’s far from “itty bitty”, which I like. The gooseneck is substantial, and it has a nice big clamp.
I don’t like the charger. It’s USB but instead of using a micro USB port like everyone else in the world, it’s a 2mm barrel plug USB adapter.
I’m thinking about modding one of these, keep the head and the gooseneck, but mount it to a pro-A/V type of clamp and possibly replace the battery box with an 14xxx or 18xxx power bank. The head is as good as anything out there in the pro audio world, the base and clamp not so much. The battery is some sort of general purpose lithium battery. I’ve had a bunch of these for my piano, above and below my synthesizer rig, illuminating my pedalboard, I’ve used them for desk lights, for a reading light, and until I got my FC11, it was my only flashlight.
I wish I knew enough about flashlights to identify the LEDs and say more about the battery.
I have to ask, doesn’t a head lamp on LOW make more sense than to have something hanging on your book? Don’t you have to remove it every time you turn the page?
I have a bunch of headlamps (at least 10). I don’t have any that work for me for reading. Too much hot spot and not able to get to a low enough level. Believe me I have tried.
The clamp is a bit of a pain for sure, though I did it like this for a good while. It does slow down reading a bit for sure. I ended getting a floor lamp with something like 12 leds. Shine it over the back of my recliner. Adjustable color temp and brightness. Works great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09LYQRTHY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It was on sale for $18 at the time. The best purchase I have made for reading.
I would like to see a company design a headlamp purely for blackouts, designed for use in the home and kitchen, playing card games and board games, and for reading only, not outdoor activities, not hiking or running.
