Battery testers (updated)

Are there any testers similar to the alkaline testers for lithium batteries we use in torches??

That kind of tester is just like a voltmeter coupled to a small load resistor.

This is because, unless they are totally dead, alkaline tend to regain some voltage if not used and measuring the "open load"voltage might be misleading so adding a small load helps for a more meaningfull reading.

As long as they are not in really bad condition, Liion batteries have a more straight voltage to state of charge relation and a simple voltmeter can be used.

Thanks Kame Sennin, with that in mind I found some mini volt meters on eBay that I think can be made into nice small pocket friendly/ keychain sized, so no worry of draining batteries to far. eBay link 0.28 Inch 2.5V - 30V Mini Digital Voltmeter Voltage Tester Meter. 4 Colours. | eBay

Nice, cheers specialk. I was thinking more pocket/keychain size.

My first attempt at my pocket meter, cut a mint tin in half. testing a keeppower 18350
