The Sunwayman T40CS came in the mail today. It's even nicer than I thought it would be. Superb finish on this baby. And it comes with pretty nice holster. The reflector on this light is one of the nicest I have seen. It's like looking in a super nice mirror. I'm impressed. It's got a very bright beam and you can tell right a way this light has got throw written all over it. It's got a super smooth forward clicky. The LED is perfectly centered. And it's got a stainless steel bezel. There is some outer ring marks that surround the hotspot. I guess some of it may be due to the not so deep reflector. But it does have a 64mm head diameter which tells me it will have a lot of throw. I can now see why rikr spoke so highly of this light. I haven't had it very long, but I can already tell that this light has like written all over it. I like the side switch that allows you to flip through the modes from high, medium, low, strobe and sos. Once you turn the light on the at the tailcap, you can push the side switch in and hold it to cycle from high, medium or low. You double click the side switch to go in to your strobe and sos modes. And if you push the side switch in and let off the light will turn off. But it still draws a very small amount of current like sort of in a stand by mode. Now to get it out of this stand by mode, you can either press the tailcap switch in and let out which will turn the light off, or you can uscrew the tailcap until the light turns off. Both will take you out of this stand by mode to where the light is no longer drawing current from the batteries.
All in all this is one very nice flashlight, and I would recommend it so far from what I have seen. I paid a little over $96 and some change shipped for this light. I'll try and take some beamshots at nite later this week and post them here. And I'll also compare the T40CS to my other throwers. But I believe from what I have seen fo far that the light is going to do pretty well against my other XM-L lights.
I told you it was a great light. It fits perfectly in your hand. Now you have to get it's little brother the T20CS and you will see it has the same features but it also has a low battery indicator.
I consider the Sunwayman T40CS and T20CS very good looking lights. I hope to be able to get the T20CS soon and maybe the T40CS.
However looking at Selfbuit's beamshots I find the T40CS having quite a pronounced tunnel effect. Even thought the spill seems to be very large.
I've made a gif from Selfbuilt's gifs, the T40CS' beamattern seems quite inferior to the Crelant 7G5. But then the T40CS photo seems to have been saved with a lower compression algorithm than the 7G5 and the daytime and the woods are not the same. However will still be there.
ILIKEFLASHLIGHTS, could you try a comparison between the two? With the light coming up just like Selfbuilt did.
I am also very impressed with the T40CS. I've had mine for a month now and I love it. I think since I bought this and the V20A I am a bit of a Sunwayman fan. I love the finish, features and looks of their lights.
