I have been collecting sunglasses since the 80’s.
Have about 50 pairs including Oakley, Maui Jim and Revo.
My favourite are my Oakley X-Metals…Half-X, Juliets, X-Squared and X-metal XX.
Any shade fans here?
I can’t ever bring myself to buy expensive ones because I just know I’ll lose them.
Heck, I accidentally wore my favorite pair of Tifosi Swank shades to the lake instead of my cheapo jet ski glasses, and whaddaya know, tossed myself off the jet ski for the first time in my life and lost my shades in the drink.
For $25, Tifosi Swank are pretty nice.
I lost a pair of Rayban Wayfair when I was at Dunn’s River Fall in Jamaica. Had them clipped to my tank top and the rushing water washed them off the front of my top.
I have the Juliet, Half X, Pit Boss, and a few others.
All in original packaging, never used.
I feel the same…… I have pairs of oakleys and raybans but I baby them so much that I don’t take them with me doing activities etc. Though recently I picked up a few pairs “Shady Rays” while listening to Tom and Bert’s podcast and gotta say for the price and warranty they have I was skeptical but have to say they are pretty solid quality for glasses I don’t need to worry about damaging.
Sounds like a great collection. Don’t have the Pit Boss but like to increase my X-metal collection. Looking for the Romeo at a good price. Have all the original box too with the Oakley coins.
Yes, the irony is I purchased all of them in retail stores when they had sales or huge seasonal discounts. My Juliet was only 129GBP in London after discount. The Half X was only 155GBP. They all pretty much doubled in value.
I also keep all original packaging, the receipts and all cases and/or spare parts.
On Fleabay, I purchased a pair of used, Double Edge, Deep Water Prism Polarized, for $40, in excellent shape.
I then purchased new, another identical pair for $85, on Fleabay, as well.
I wear the used pair 99% of the time.
That was last summer.
Prices seem to have gone up, for that model frame/lens.

I have a set of Ducati Oakley Fives which I have had for years, sadly they’re a bit worse for wear now, having dropped them a few times. :cry:

and a couple pair of Revo 3007’s that I never take out
I know how bassoverflow feels about losing a great pair of Oakley, my first pair of Oakley was the Full Metal Jacket which I had for 1 week and accidentally crushed them with my grocery bag with 10 lbs of juicing carrots.
I had an awesome pair of Frogskins, in 1996?
Friend wore them jet skiing… bottom of the chain o lakes.
I never lend out my Oakley X-Metals. If a friend lost or damaged them. It is hard to get mad at them…only internally. I will lend out my Raybans.
Got a few pairs currently wear my Sliver Xl Oakleys, Want to get some Holbrook XL too
