Theoretical question

You travel 30 years back in time. Which one flashlight wold you take with to impress people?

Zebra sc5c mk 2. Most hcri lumens from one NiMH if I’m not mistaken.

Any single-18650 USB-rechargeable light like a UC35, TN12, or maybe headlamp form factor, like a Wizard Pro...

I’ll take one of Rovyvons keychain lights, the power to size ratio is insane and its usb rechargeable.

well 30 years ago is only 90`s so I`d probably take my Lumintop FW21 Pro and go for the `Lumen Wars` win.

Acebeam L17. I have no practical use for throwers, but it’s tiny, and at night it’s a freakin’ light sabre.

Just the other night, I showed it to a friend after we got done biking, and its claimed 1400 lumens is way more impressive than the claimed 3800 lumens of my Sofirn IF25A. Candela/focus/throw has way more wow factor in my experience.

With the L17 I was lighting up canyon walls, and even though I lit up the whole parking lot with IF25A, the L17 was the one that he wants to buy now.

BLF GT94. Because it has unparalleled beam performance and beam profile.

So my choice of taking a Rovyvon keychain is a good one

USB Mini was invented in 2000 while micro wasn’t around until 2007, according to Wikipedia.

So you’d need a different connector! I’m imagining whatever the steampunk equivalent of the early 1990s is….

Ye good point!

Maybe the latest Sofirn C01 5mm led AAA light would be “passable” in 90`s, it`s the only one that springs to mind.

TK4A/TN4A/SPwhatever, 4×AA light that tosses 1000lemons in the size of a tomato-paste can.

Some one has to say it so I guess it will be me. Imalent ms18.

any current led.
i would impress people
by shining it directly on
my gambling winnings.

Acebeam W30 to impress people. Something more practical for long term I’d say a Zebra AA light.

The GT94 isn’t big enough to cover my nakedness. The MF05 barely suffices.

You can’t travel back in time far enough to impress people with a flashlight. You don’t have a girlfriend do you? (joke).

Everybody knew what a maglite was back then. The acebeam W30 lep is slightly smaller but the same basic size and shape. It is probably the most impressive light available today. But it’s not available anymore today. Acebeam still shows it on their website but I suspect they’re only selling it to military and police, as they ask you to “inquire” about purchasing. So not a lot of people got to see it today but you can watch the videos. The videos do not do it justice.

Depends. If I had time displacement tech like in Termimator it wouldn’t work since nothing inorganic can go through. I like flashlights, but I’m not down for kestering them.

If I had a Delorean like back to the future…hmm probably take the GT94 or Weltool W4 since flashlights weren’t very ‘throwy’ or bright in the early 90’s. I may even take my Sofirn SP10S and some 14500’s since it’s so bright and small and the beam is nice. Maybe even. MS06. About the MS18: people from 1990 would be impressed…until it broke down after 20 minutes

D4V2 in 18350 size/lumens/Anduril would have wow factor - especially for late night dorm crowd watching Star Trek…
