This is a repost of a post I made on r/flashlight on reddit. I figured y’all might be able to help me. Here are my criteria:
Price Range: $100 bucks + batteries + shipping (California)
Purpose: This light will be used when backpacking (it doesn’t have to be lightweight), camping, hiking, etc.
Battery Type & Quantity: I prefer 18650’s, but its not a dealbreaker. If not 18650, then integrated charging would be nice.
Size: No size limit.
Type: Handheld
Main Use: I plan on carrying this light hiking and camping, but it doesn’t have to fit well in a hand (soda pop can lights are fine). Honestly, a light this bright is not practical when backpacking, I just want good throw and high lumen output.
Switch Type: Side switch preferred, but not a dealbreaker.
Anything Else?: The goal of this light is, tbh, to be unnecessarily bright and wonderfully impractical. I considered the Noctigen K1, but it leaned too heavily towards throw over lumen output. I have a Sofirn SB36 Blf on the way, so this light should occupy a different niche (it should be more throw-y and less flood-y). Given my budget is more than twice what a SP36 costs right now ($44, Christmas sale), this light should be both brighter and more throw-y than the SP36.
I am considering the Mateminco MT70 (98 bucks here with coupon code BGSYT06)
Thank You,
