Finding a manufacturer interested in my light design

Hey all,
I have a flashlight design that is not similar to anything currently available in the budget lights market. Some top-end companies offer these kind of lights for about 600 USD.
I am almost sure it will cost to a Chinese manufacturer a lot less than 100 USD to build it according to my design so it has a huge profit potential.

How do I find a manufacturer that might be interested in building it.
I am not really interested in money for my design and help in building the light
(Did someone have experience with such a cooperation? what do they usually offer for your help?)

THX

I never experienced such kind of cooperation, but I am sure some people here has done it.
The main brands that normally collaborate with BLF are Sofirn (check Barry, from Sofirn) , Lumintop (check Neal, not from LT, but with contacts) , Convoy (check Simon, owner of Convoy) , Astrolux (check freeme, contact from Banggood that is related to Astrolux).

Maybe any of this people can give you some idea of what you propose!

Thanks

I’d go with Simon first if you can (idk if he’d be willing), then Sofirn, then lumintop, then astrolux in that order

Already talked to Simon he doesn't seems to be interested :(

@YuvalS

Try Favourlight. http://www.favourlight.com/catalog

They are the OEM for portable lighting products sold by many worldwide, big box retailers. Before adding a retailer's labeling, I recall from direct communication that they will tweak and customize their catalog offerings to meet a customers needs. As for new designs, although it's been many years since I communicated with them about a custom light built to my specs, I recall that they were willing to work with individuals on developing new product ideas. Maybe they still are, or can at least refer you to a company that will.

My introduction into this hobby was over 10 years ago when I purchased an 18650 flashlight from Gander Mountain made by Favourlight. Compared to what I eventually found through CPF & BLF, the quality was mediocre, but fulfilled GM's need for store-brand outdoor/camping lighting. I hope the lead pans out, best wishes.

Thanks browsing their catalog it seems like a bit too poor quality for my needs but I will try contact them

Amutorch is a company that I like. I think I’ve seen OEM stuff on their site. Also NiteEye/Jetbeam.

You are very right! :+1:
I knew something was missing from my list!
Here, take a look at their site: OEM & ODM Service

Well, if he can help you, he will. But he sets his own course.
And if your proposition does not fit in, he will not comply.
But I can’t say I blame him, because his ship seems to sail pretty wel.

I am not blaming him, just mentioning that I have already talked to him and he is not interested

Wildtrail could be another manufacturer to try getting in touch with.

Thanks, I will contact them.

I'm am contacting manufacturer one by one so it takes some time. especially with the Chinese new year
Meanwhile, I am really interested to hear from people who had such experience.

i am curious what your idea is, but i am guessing that is a secret.

i could at least tell you if it has been done before, or if it seems possible

if you are not interesting any ‘makers’, it may be because it is not feasible, or economical, or something
and the ‘makers’ are not going to waste time explaining beyond ‘no, thanks’.

I’m also curious about what you idea entails but for obvious reasons you are keeping it a secret and I can understand that. Going on the clues in your post there are very few lights produced that sit at the $600 price point and the next clue “Top-end” companies I can only think of two that would be in that ball park and that is either Lumintop or Imalent for consumer brands.

With that in mind I can only think of two possible lights in that specific price range being either the “Imalent MS18” or the “Lumintop GT94” I just cant see how either could be built for less than $100 usd since on average just breaking down the cost of the LED’s from either of the lights being a cree XHP70.2 at roughly $12 per and Luminus SBT90.2 sits at roughly $35-45 per, considering that even buying at cost would more than likely exceed the $100 estimate to build.

I could be really wrong on my hypothesis, I hope I’m wrong in my guess as it would be interesting to see what kind of design you have and I hope you find a company to collaborate with.

My guess would be that YuvalS is making a headlamp, and the competitors in that space have to be certified for a bunch of things.

No need to play detective, just have a look at my signature :)

I am not keeping it a secret since my only goal it to make this light available for a budget price.
I do have some more ideas that can even make my design superior to the top-end lights but if some company wants to build it without consulting me (no Idea why since I am not asking for money) I am also happy.

oh
i looked at the 2 links
i don;t see anything a light maker could actually build
you would need 3d renderings, CAD files, circuit, schematic, layout, BOM,

This ^
You also need performance metrics, a value proposition, and target market analysis.
