Fake Samsung 18650-35E?

Hi,

I have just ordered Samsung INR18650-35E cells from a local battery shop.

When I received them I wanted to be sure if they are original. So I used batterybro to check it.

https://batterybro.com/pages/18650-date-code-lookup-tool

But it is not recognized by the tool.

The date code is :KL4T

Is it fake or there is a new date code syntax?

Kindly check and report if there are some characters (letter-number) underneath the wrapper.

I notice on the newer batch of (genuine) Samsung 30Q, the code underneath also doesn’t match the previously known date code syntax (as used by BatteryBro or on the old Samsung spec sheet).

May want to refer to this thread too:

What does the positive end look like? There should be three posts, not four which is common in fakes.

The capacity is far below the specification.

My charger reports 2119 mAh output capacity of a fully charged battery.

And the internal resistance is 69 mOhm

The date/batch code is not consistent between the Samsung cells, some of them had last sign written as letter, Samsung uses different coding across their batteries.
Good example here:
https://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Samsung%20INR18650-33G%203150mAh%20(Blue)%20UK.html

Many manufacturers use week coding written as one symbol, then both digits and letters can be used – in such case T letter can correspond to ~28-30 week.
