Introduction

The Wuben H1 is a headlamp with red and white high CRI auxiliary lights. The main led, an Osram P9, sits in a small SMO reflector. I never saw this led before and don’t know how it will perform. The Wuben H1 comes with a headband and a battery.

What is included

- Wuben H1

- Wuben 18650 2600mAh protected battery

- Headband

- Manual

- Quality control card

- Micro USB cable

  • Spare o-rings

A few pictures of the packaging. It consists of three layers: an outer layer of transparent plastic, a cardboard box with the colored prints and a plastic case inside with the headlamp and accessories. The snarling face on the box is not the nicest print to use.

Appearance

For the first few seconds after turning on the main led a blue light shines behind the plastic.

The purple AR-coated glass lens is so transparent that you almost don’t see it when you look at it frontally. This might indicate a good AR coating.

These are one of the biggest square cut threads I have ever seen. They are lubricated and screw on smoothly.

The driver has a brass button on it. The battery tube has some reinforcement structures or internal cooling rips.

Battery and charging

The battery is a Wuben branded 18650 with 2600mAh and protection. It is charged inside the headlamp with Micro USB, located beside the switch. The Micro USB cover closes acceptably well.

The red light and the white flood light were too weak to be seen at this distance so I did not include the beamshots.

The main led is slightly greenish and has a very obvious and disturbing tint shift. The hot spot is yellow while the spill is colder and rosy. The white auxiliary light is slightly greenish, too.

Teardown and internals

There is no teardown for now. I need to find a suitable screwdriver first and will hopefully be able to add pictures of the internals later.

Conclusion

The Wuben H1 is a well designed and produced headlamp. The main led gives a (for a headlamp) quite throwy beam while there is also a (weak) high CRI floody light and a red light. The Osram P9 is bright but it is greenish and has a quite disturbing tint shift on white walls. The user interface is quite straightforward and easy to use with four well spaced modes, hidden strobe and auxiliary lights. Short press for on and off, long press to change modes is my favourite. The Wuben H1 is rather lightweight which is important if you want to wear it on your head for an extended time period. The headband is adjustable and has reflective stripes. The headlamp fits snugly in the rubber rings of the headband and the angle of light is adjustable.

What I like

- Floody and red auxiliary lights

- Easy UI with four well spaced modes

- Bright beam with a little throw

- Good anodisation, smooth, anodized threads

- Rather lightweight

- Adjustable headband with reflective stripes

  • Headlamp fits the rubber rings well, adjustable angle of light

What could be improved

- Use a different led with less tint shift, less green and neutral white tint

  • The high CRI floody light should be brighter, maybe with high and low mode

Thank you for this review. I almost bought it, but the greenish tint and tint shift would bug me.
